Hi,
my Xbox 360 is experiencing ring of death. Can anyone advise me what I can do?
1) I understand MS has extended the warranty period to 3 yrs, but my set is a modded set, is it still under warranty?
2) Because I actually bought my set online, I don't know whether the seal is broken? Can anyone advise me where I can check my seal?
3) If I were to bring it to MS, do I need to remove my modded chip?
I do not know regarding modded chips, but the last time i experienced the ring of death, i had a one for one exchange. Call their customer service hotline.

my xbox was hit with 3-rings of death recently too. getting it (turns out to be the power adapter issue) fixed was quite a hassle.
unfortunately yours a mod set, can't go to microsoft anymore....
for non-mod sets.....
you will have to call microsoft hotline first before you make the trip to funan center (6th flr). microsoft will attempt to do some troubleshooting with you and provide a ticket number if they believe it's a console related problem. If so, the console will be exchanged one-to-one. according to them, usually will takes about 10 days for the exchange.
if you have friends who have a working xbox, you might wanna borrow the power adapter and power cord to test (to confirm if your console is ok).
from what i was told by microsoft, console is 3yrs warranty for 3-rings problem. power adapter is covered under warranty beyond 90days (or somewhere there).
it took me quite a while to hunt for the adapter replacement. didn't get to see many places selling them....
