If you think the Toa Payoh giant moth is big, mine's even bigger!
That's how STOMPer Dan felt as he shared about the Atlas Moth at his brother-in-law's home.
According to him, it's definitely bigger-sized.
His brother-in-law, Francis (below) lives at Block 8 Lakepoint Drive in Jurong.
Dan who took this picture on Saturday (7 Apr) added that the moth visits only during certain times of the year.
"I've seen the moth, and it looks really big. My brother also mentioned that the moth only appears in his home during Ching Ming and the seventh lunar month. I find it very strange," he told STOMP.
STOMP then contacted his brother's home, and managed to get more information about the moth from Amanda, Dan's niece.
The 18-year-old student told STOMP, "The moth measures about 2 palm-width from in length, and slightly more than that across. Once it actually rested on my face, and I thought it was a bird because it was so big!"
Amanda also finds it strange that the moth only seems to visit during certain times of the year. "My mother doesn't allow us to chase it away as she guesses that it could be the spirit of our ancestors. That's why we don't try to chase it away as a sign of respect."
She added that she would most probably be terrified of it, had it been another ordinary moth.
