Workfare bonus: nearly 400,000 S'poreans have received 2nd portion AS of 31 May this year, 348,000 Singaporeans have already received the second portion of the Workfare Bonus (WBS).
This amounted to a total of $162 million.
The WBS is part of the Progress Package that gives a cash bonus to older, low wage Singaporean workers.
This is to reward regular and productive work.
Singaporeans have until June 30, 2007 to declare their income in order to qualify for the second and final portion of the Workfare Bonus Scheme.
This is for work done in 2006, the Ministry of Manpower said in a statement.
'Declarations made after this date will not be accepted,' it added.
The declaration applies only to Singaporeans who meet the Workfare Bonus criteria but do not have CPF contributions for work done last year, and did not receive an income tax return.
The criteria includes Singaporeans who:

# live in a property with an annual value of $10,000 or less
# are employed or self-employed and have worked for at least 6 months in calendar year 2006
# earned an average monthly income of $1,500 or less in calendar year 2006
# have signed up for the Progess Package.
More than 340,000 low wage workers received a total of about $157 million for the first portion. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |
