TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A woman in Taipei County was treated for multiple bite wounds yesterday after an unsuccessful attempt to "avenge" her dog from a pack of neighboring canines.

The woman, 54-year-old Tucheng City resident Chiang Li-pi, tried to take justice in her own hands by punishing the four mutts for injuring her dog Laishun's ear.

Instead, she was brutally attacked by the dogs, which bit her several times in her arms and legs.

The owner of the dogs, which live in a recycling plant located across the street from Chiang's home, yesterday visited Chiang in her home and apologized, offering to pick up the woman's medical expenses.
