THEY THOUGHT MUMMY WAS JUST PLAYING A GAME...
THE three sisters were playing happily in their room when their mum entered and coaxed them to go into the closet and wait.
Thinking she was playing a game with them, the girls - aged 3, 5 and 7- did as they were told.
Moments later, 29-year-old Alysha Green opened the closet door and threw a burning shirt, soaked with petrol, at her daughters.
The incident took place in Haltom City, Fort Worth, Texas, last Saturday.
Further investigations revealed that Green had also doused her daughters in petrol before throwing the burning shirt at them.
When neighbours heard the little girls screaming, they informed the police and ran into the smoke-filled house. They sprayed the burning girls with water and covered them with thick wet towels.
They claim that the eldest daughter, Adamiria, who suffered 40 per cent burns on her lower body, stood and screamed: 'Why mummy?'
Alexandria, 5, suffered 18 per cent burns. But the youngest, Ariania, 3, suffered 90 per cent burns over her body.
She died in hospital last Tuesday. According to a search warrant affidavit, Adamiria told a paramedic what her mother had done.
CHARGED
Prosecutors said they have not decided whether to seek the death penalty against Green who was charged with capital murder, following her youngest daughter's death.
She also faces the charge of causing serious bodily injury to a child, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Police said they did not know whether she had an attorney.
Green was put under police guard in the hospital where she was being treated for her burns. Upon release, she will be taken to Jail.
Police records state that she told informed police that she had set her daughters on fire because she had been angry at her husband.
Her husband told the police that Green was suffering from a bipolar disorder and had not been taking her medication. Officials also stated that Green had a history of mental illness.
Neighbours claimed that they had often seen Green kick and scream and her daughters. Another neighbour claimed that the couple were recently seen arguing in the yard.
The two surviving girls are temporarily in CPS custody, pending a Sept. 28 hearing. According to a CPS spokesman, officials are are investigating whether family members, including their father, Adam Green, would be suitable caregivers for the two girls.
Meanwhile, funeral preparations for the youngest sister who died are underway, and the event is said to be a strictly family affair.
