FOR 10 minutes, the 28-year-old woman was hanging between life and death.
She had fallen over a railing on the 11-storey of a building in Hong Kong.
Fortunately, three pairs of helping hands reached out and caught hold of the woman, known only as Ms Huang.
The first pair belonged to Mr Cen, a 59-year old security guard working in the building, reported Apple Daily.
He had received a report about a woman who was in danger of falling from the 11th storey.
He grabbed her arms and his shouts alerted 17-year-old Mr Zhang, who lived on the 16th storey.
Mr Zhang ran over to help and he and Mr Cen each held on to one of Ms Huang's arms.
At this point, the woman was hanging between the 10th and 11th storeys.
The two men were unable to pull her to safety.
STRENGTH RUNNING OUT
And after 10 minutes, their strength was running out.
At this point, another resident, Mr Zeng, 35, saw what was happening.
He ran to the 10th storey and grabbed hold of Ms Huang's legs.
Then he shouted: 'You can let go, I've got her.'
But when the two men on the 11th floor let go, Ms Huang slipped out of Mr Zeng's grasp.
All three cried out in shock as she fell.
But Ms Huang had another lucky escape.
She landed in a flower bed on a ledge just metres below where she fell.
By this time, police and civil defence officers had arrived at the scene.
Rescue personnel rappelled down the side of the building and carried her back to safety.
She was taken to a hospital for an examination soon after.
Mr Zhang said: 'Holding on for 10 minutes was really tiring.'
But he said he was very glad to have helped save a life.
