Why do you think the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer? - Singapore's Online Community

This might sound like a really chim question but if you can visualize who amongst your circle of friends are rich and who are poor, this question can be addressed relatively easily.

If you are aware and observant, you'd have seen what the lifestyle of the rich are like and maybe, you'd have known some people who are living in abject poverty....why is there a divide?

For me, I know the rich gets richer because they use their money to re-invest in whatever ventures they're good in and that's how their money doubled or tripled.

As to the poor, I feel that in MOST cases, those who stay poor are those who gave up hope of ever being rich.

What is your personal opinion on the rich and the poor? :handsup:

I agree. esp the rich.. like to invest in properties... somehow the poor end up paying more for housing.. -.-

yes i agree too..

imo, the rich will never worry of being poor, eh dun have to worry not enuff money to pay for tis and tat..

as for the poor, they have to cope with lotsa things eh.. such as housing, bills and GST..

My take on rich and poor is, its never about money...It doesnt cost a single cent to be rich...its juz the difference in 'Attitude'.

If you observe, the rich will try to learn everything....they will go to seminars, libraries, bookstores, networking events.....They will learn about anything and everything about their trade, industries....They have no time for worries...becoz they understand that being rich is the result of years of hardwork and self-education. They are responible for their life.

The poor on the other hand...they will go clubing, KTVs, gambling...they will make noise when they have to work late, they will be reluctant to go for training, they are not interested in going to work if the workplace is too far....And when price hike comes, they will start to blame society, govt, family, everyone except themselves...

Thats the difference....I am convince that anyone of us here can be rich..question is, how...and most ppl arent interested to know how...ironic...

IMO, it's not about working hard or working smart. Neither is it about earning more nor earning less.

Simple maths say that if you can ensure that your expenses are less than your revenue, then your net worth increases. Continue this forever if you can. Once you accumulate a substantial sum, choose to invest in an investment vehicle that suits you. That's how you start to change your life. For investment horizons, there's long term and short term. If possible, set your investment horizon to 'forever'.

ya. the rich gets richer becos they can use thier money, invest or whatever and become richer.

the poor gets poorer becos they do not have money to do whatever. like smetimes, they wanna do well but no $ to go sch. no education, no cert, how to find a job to earn money?

gov keep taxing increase....... den our pay forever no increase or worse become lower.... how to not become poorer.....

i have to agree with u manz! Anyone read Rich Dad Poor Dad? Many ppl like to compare about this, but if u look at each perspective, the rich dad likes to do things the unique way. As Ican says, its all in the attitude. Rich ppl nvr stop learning! They are trying ways to generate passive incomes. Anyone can become a rich man/woman, its just on how do you take the first step, and how you gonna continue with it. For example, u may admire someone driving a Ferrari. Why? they bought the Ferrari to reward themselves for able to generate big bucks! So peeps! Stop lazing around and do some soul searching!

Cesario: One word of advice on RDPD is that you take the concepts with a pinch of salt. Thing with that book is that its too simple....Real Estate and the Stock Market or the Unit Trusts are not as simple as it seem...but the book position itself as a 'get rich quick' book...which is not a very good idea.
