Best of all , if there is a point where you guys can trade in , you can do so !!! | | | | | I think you're referring to "FreeLoader" from Datel. It costs about SG$27.50 online with free delivery within SG but do take note of the disclaimers and warnings: Datel FreeLoader
For those who wish to try a DIY mod but are afraid of voiding their warranty or damaging their Wii set, try the D2Pro v2 9 Wire with the Wii-Clip V4C.
With this combination, you attach the mod chip to the clip and then attach the clip to the Wii chip and mobo.
Just got my Wii and will be exploring various options before proceeding. |

Hi, the wii clip still requires you to solder the chip onto the clip and then just clip the thing onto the wii board, but there's still 1 wire to solder.. =) remember, to open the wii, some screws are hidden and require the tri-wing screwdriver to open.

jeff | | | | | Soldering the chip onto the clip is ok compared to soldering it onto the pin sized points on the chip. =)
Does the jumber option explained in the digram work? If not, soldering one point on the board is still ok and for such a big point, there are other options other than solder. ;-) |

The solderless chip + clip came in yesterday morning but I only got home an hour ago. Took apart my Wii, clipped on the mod chip, put it back together, hooked it to my TV, popped in an original ... played fine, ejected the original and popped in a "backup" ... played fine ... tried another ... played fine ... and another ... and another ... and ... and ...
Yesssss! They're all working
The whole process of modding only took 1/2 an hour with this chip + clip solution and the best part is that it is completely reversable and untraceable.

I've also found some bulk dealers who sell the chip and clip (unassembled though) in very, very, very cheap prices.
Oh yeah, modding with the D2Pro2 is also really easy because it's supposed to support even the chips that have their drive pins cut.
BTW, if you did mod with the D2Pro2, remember to update the firmware to 1.4 so that it will support dual layer DVD +/- R disks. At the moment, there's only one game (if I remember correctly) that requires DL DVD but I'm sure there will be more to come. |
