Whats your view on marriage life?

Do you think that you will be with him/her for the rest of your life?

Do you think that life will be still as the mushy mushy BGR?

Have you heard of "Marriage Is The Graveyard Of Love"?

The divorce rate is SG is quite high.

Singles, couples, married, divorce, seperated ppl are all welcome to discuss.

No, its not a graveyard to me,
many might think for my age, blinded in love of coz wanna marriage.
i've seen failures, but have seen great ones,
my parents have a great influence in my thinkin,
they have a good marriage, everyday kpkb, after a while laugh and joke together, and is totally committed to the same goal, making life better for the entire family.

i clearly know wad i wan in life,
marriage is a new chapter in one's life, a new beginning, a new level to your Love. I think marriage is very nice, that is IF you think, and is totally sure abt the other half tt ur wif will be the one u wanna grow old with.

nothing beats, nothin, not even cold hard cash beats the assurance of being loved,and knowin there'll be someone with you, to share the bliss of growin old together.

i'm not afraid of divorces or wad,
i'm pretty sure, the one whom i'm gonna walk down the asile will be the one i'll stick with no matter wad. of coz, also with the assurance tt he thinks like me

Marriage is an agreement of sharing life on all accounts with the partner,another humanbeing tied together through socioreligious bond.
Marriage is a lost tradition in this country that isn't respected anymore like it should be. People are no longer waiting to get married. They do it when they are young and not even close to being ready. And then when the party is over (get bored) then they move on and then some are married two or three times in their lives.
I dont see it as a graveyard of love.

Im slightly jaded bout marriage.. Coz it takes more then just two people to make it work.. But I still have hope.. It's every lil girls dream to marry the man of her dreams... :biggrin4:

Well...I actually ever thought of being a bachelorette once. (Ok, I'm trying to avoid using the word "spinster" because of its unglamourous connotations).

I guess that I won't commit to a marriage if I am unable to find someone secured enough to start a family with. Or someone who can convince me undying love in the event of unfortunate stress in the marriage. Heartbreaks are painful enough. I wouldn't want to be involved in a broken family drama.

I guess currently I'm adopting a too cynical view towards relationships and love, and thus it invariably twarted my perception of marriage as well.

I have seen my parents quarreled too often about how they regretted marrying each other or even marrying in the first place and how they often coaxed me about selecting a right partner or just not getting married at all, as cited by their observation that many people are avoiding marriage.

Contrary to normal parents who wish for their children to be married and thus having a pillar to lean on in the future, my parents are the possessive sort who wants us to stay by their sides forever. Selfish I know. Coupled with marital affairs and all that, marriage to them is a disaster and the worst decision they pressume to have ever made.

And so, society and real-life cases have taught me to be skeptical, which is an individual thing because I do know that many people are optimistic about marriage, and honestly, this is the right attitude to adopt. At least, you can live life happier knowing that there is still hope in the future. =)

O. My brother just got married recently. You know to be part of wedding just makes me feel that marriage is so blissful! Life aint complete without marriage. Of cos, got to marry a person you really like...

marriage ar... to me, it is a life time of commitment and respects for each other. and also responsibilities to handle the house and kids. but very sad to say many people now no longer think in this way. i've seen young couples getting divorce after less than 3 years of marriage due to small matters...

i dont understand why must people rush into marriages when they didnt even want to put in effort to make the marriage work. but thats one thing i really respect my parents for. they both are still so damn loving even after over 30 years of marriage and sometimes can still hear them bickering and flirting with each other. so er xin...hehe...:shifty3:

IMHO, ppl does change, nothing stays the same forever.

Marriage is bonding of 2 different unrelated person getting together and become a family. When the kids comes, the family is completed.

Before marriage, the loving mushy feelings of BGR is there. Things that you might not see or hear daily is your better half snoring, w/out make-up and his/her other bad habits like going to the toilet w/out flashing, etc.

The Mrs. stop taking care of herself in dressing, grooming, etc.

The blissful marriage life probably lasts until the kids arrived.

Couples starts quarreling about the kids, how to bring them up, education, money, in-laws, etc....

Start calling each other like the kids, "Mommy", "Daddy" instead of Sweetheart, Darling, etc.

After the kids arrived, the woman probably will put on weight and not slim down.

Sex in the early stage would be frequent maybe 3 to 4 times a week, as the marriage life grows, it could be like once a week or once a month or none at all.

Guys would take this opportunity to find another "dish" outside. Try to get back the "Lost loving feelings" when they were BGR instead of marriage couple.

Guys also need their private time with their friends over a cuppa or beer. Wife or "OC" will call and spotcheck.

The above is from a man's view. btw....I was married once before.

i guess marriage is just like any other relationship... but with bigger commitments... as in you cant just simply walk away from it as and when u like it... i believe that is possible to have a blissful marriage, but it takes the two of them to make that work...

so, if i wanna get married, i will make sure that my partner is willing to sacrifice for our marriage.... i am not saying that we will be lovey dovey all the time...

there will be quarrels, there will be disagreements, there will be temptations... e only way to make it work is that both parties is willing to try hard and make sacrifices to overcome all of the above problems...

Marriage in my own opinion is harder than philosophy, cooking, studying, exams and theories. It takes so much effort in making it right. It is not just about right ingredients, condiments or the extras that make the "dish" nice. It is all about compromising, accomodating, loving, caring, and concern. Too less or too much of any one of it, will make this "dish" called marriage go bad.

Love is never as easy as ABC nor is it a valuable with high returns investment. It involves high risk with returns ranging from no to high returns. However, what is important (to me) in a marriage is are you willing to accept the bad points as much as you do love the merits of your partner. If you are able to accept your spouse and make the best out of everything, perhaps then marriage is good. But if one end is skeptical, it will somehow blow the relationship.

It is just like a libra. You need to balance both sides if not it will be lop-sided. Furthermore, you have to ask yourself, I will be seeing this person EVERYDAY for all my days till either death or separation. Am I able to take it?

If one day my answers are all positive, then I think I am ready for marriage. Currently, I am still skeptical about marriage cos of my parents marriage life and other failures in my family members that I have seen. Most important, am I able to be the good, supportive and accomodating wife?
