house warmin is always good in today's context. A chance for relatives to meet up and just gather for fun..... with food and drinks provided of course. hehe..... Relationships between S'poreans family are getting further by the day........ soon our next generation will only know our immediate family members...

Purpose of a house warming is for the owner not to buy electrical appliances and for those who comes to buy those things for them!! Hahahaha.
lol i agree.. that is why some owners will tell their friends like their house is lacking of what.. then when they go the owner house for buffet all this.. the owner is kinda expecting something.. lol their appliances.. lol

Haha, no wonder Singapore do not have this tradition of house warming. Most Singaporeans are stingy to give presents so that you can fill up what you need.
at first i got the same tots too. i was hearing someone talking about being host at a house warming, then you have to show them around the house and intro them the rooms la, kitchens la, toilet la.
then i suddenly got this tot. why house warming? seems like there is more than meets the eye hehe.
According to those Fengshui thing, "Ren Qi" is good for a house and to chase away the dirty things...That's why its good to invite a lot of ppl to ur new house...
And this shouldnt be done only when u've just moved in...
It's always good to have frequent gatherings in ur house.. to have more Ren Qi....and to bring in luck and very "wang"...a cold and quiet house will invite more dirty things instead...
That's wat my colleague who studied Fengshui told me one....
basically just to have a gathering
show ur friends and ur relatives the new house
let them know how it looks like
let them know the furnishes in ur house
let them know how to exactly get there by walking which way from wad transport
quite fun to have a house warming lah
like a party liddat
only thing is that u have to clear up like mad after that
