1. Question drilling
2. Concepts mastery
or
3. Concepts and applications mastery
The fundamental skills required of a good maths tutor are:
- advanced understanding and mastery in current syallabi,
- able to deliver / adapt various tutoring approaches (which includes teaching, coaching, drilling, interactive learning, guided learning etc),
- communicate & understand the tutee's needs, develop confidence and competence in tutees.
- able to develop customised lesson plans and roadmaps to address your tutee's individual needs and study style
Since it has been quite a long time you have touched both E & A Maths, I suggest you re-study both Maths syllabi back when you studied. The current syallabi are watered down, and update yourself on the current teaching approaches / methods taught in schools. The pedagogy have may changed since then.
After that, start tutoring E Maths 1st before moving into A Maths to develop your confidence and polish your tutoring skills / style. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I am currently teaching 3 kids, 1 primary, 2 secondary. If you teach, it really depends on your kid and the teaching style to adapt. Most importantly, always remember as a tuition teacher, you are suppose to solve their doubts as much as possible.
Assessment book practice followed by going through their mistakes and teaching them would be an important part of it To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.
