Default What does maturity mean to you?

To me, it's not age.

I have seen people in their 30s who are in high ranking positions, commands the obeyence of their subordinates and is no nonsense.

But delve into their mentality, especially in a quarrel, and you will see that all the facade of charisma is really...bogus. Say, their thinking and the way they handle their emotions.

For example, I see maturity as being able to control your emotions and to have the capacity to distinguish between what is appropriate behaviour and what is not. For example, a 30 year old man upset at his much youger sibling because of jealousy, is simply not what you would call, maturity.

And so, age often belies a person's true mental age. And as a girl, I find maturity a huge turn on. I'm sure most of the ladies here prize that as an important quality as attractive as well.

So ladies and gents, what constitutes maturity in your opinion? And what form of actions or behaviour do you associate with maturity and immaturity?

Would love to get some opinions on this as dealing with people of different ages but differing maturity can be rather tiring.

probably its the same to u, but i feel that maturity also depends on how you treat people, how you think, how you act, and how you speak

people can control their emotions very well, act in a very mature manner...
but does it means they are matured? nope... if their attitude is looking down on people, no matter how they behave and control themselves, they are still immature bunch of individuals that will forever have the childish mindset of "i am on the top of the world"

agreed? :mellow3:

PS: to sex-on-heel, i dun disagree with u, just that i feel there are more to maturity den wad u wrote

Haha yep definitely. Attitude is key too. And sometimes we don't really know how a person is feeling and thinking either.

Hmmm, I think even for matured person they also have a childish side of them that is not revealed to others. So I would think maturity (I don't even think "maturity" this word should even exist?) should be linked to whether a person is able to think on his own, be sensible, independent, fair or impartial, responsible for own actions, dealing with difficult people in a tactful way etc...

Each and everyone of us think differently and we all go through different phases in life and various experiences in order to grow up and learn. So what right do we have to say whether a person is matured anot? Since that person also have to go through different experiences in order to grow up and learn? Don't you think so? (Well, my opinion only)

So i wouldn't comment a person whether he/she is matured. Instead I'll say he's/she's still young or he/she probably haven gone through certain experiences in life to understand certain things...i think that would be more fair to others.

In time of troubles and difficulties, you will see the true self of a person; how one person handles a situation at time like this will depict the level of maturity he or she has.

relentless pursuit for perfection;
thats taking a toil
in my health.

Somebody said they saw you,
the person you were kissing wasn't me.
And i will never ask you;
I just kept it to myself.
I dont wanna know;
if you playing me, keep it all a low.
Cause my heart can't take it anymore.

What do i do to make you love me
What do i do to make you care
What do i do to make you want me
Its sad, Its so sad,
Its a sad sad situation

In my opinion, failures let us be mature. Facing difficulties, a mature person will consider problems in many aspects and find the best solutions; On the contrary, a childish person depends on only courage and sense to cope with difficulties.
What is the factors causing such a great difference?
It is because a mature person must have encountered many setbacks and he has already gained experience and skills. Moreover, he know what is the most important. If we succeed in everything we do, we will neglect many things which is very important to us.
We all can be mature one day but it needs a long long time.

Personally, I think maturity is an indication that you are able to do what is right. You may know what is right or wrong, but that doesnt mean you will do it.

We all know stealing is wrong. Yet why are some people stealing at age 30, 40? They are old enough to be mature, but they are not mature enough to be old.

your level of maturity will show when you are handling problems.
