What is your decision?

I'm working in a small company which means less than 10 staffs and I'm my boss's assistant. When I went for interview my boss told me my job is mainly admin work eg sending emails, answer calls, typing letters etc. But now i got to do accounts eg invoices, cashbook, chase customers for payments etc. Then my boss also change her attitude at 1st she was very nice to me like if I made mistakes she dun mind. But now is even I din make any mistakes she will say me eg got once she lost some documents and she inist she give to me. But she din so I told her about it and she say maybe it's because I throw it away accidently. Then last time I can go lunch at any lunch time but now she say I must go at 12.30 pm - 1.30 pm as I must follow the office rules. She also now inist everyday I must let her have a list of what work I'm doing. But to other staffs she never treat them like this just only me. So now I'm really unhappy with this job and wish to resign. Do u think I shd or if u were me what will be your decision?

wah,sound like your boss got mood swings.Better quits ,she is taking you for granted.

If i am not wrong, our boss should be a female one, as female boss is very hard to capture their mood. If i was you, i will measure my own patience, if it exceed, i will lok for job first before quiting.

how about ur other option? is it easy for you to find another job??? with similar pay??? or same distance to home????

She insist a list of wat work u done everyday? from what i felt, she is picking on u, either u hav offend her in anyway or she did not like ur working attitude. I hav such boss as well, and is a he, if i were u, i will start to look for other job le, i can't stand handling this kinda issue and mental stress everyday...work also must be happy.No point going to work everyday pulling a long face. And since it is a small company, only 9 staff.. why not quit and look for a better offer? Small company usually very niao and little benefit, like medical, dental, leaves.... Tats my stand.

Firstly there must be a certain reasons why you boss out of the sudden treated you these ways.

You are not performing well? You task given to you? Or maybe you are more beautiful then her that cause her to be jealous? Think before you react, sometime it maybe your fault without you realizing it.

During interview you are only promise to carry out certain duties, which mean you only will carry out those duties only? Take it as a chance to learn; at lest next time you found another job those things you do will reflect well on you resume.

Now your boss wanted you to list down everything you do daily, meaning that she must be monitoring you for quite sometimes already. May be your work performance is not very good. (Sorry no hard feeling) In time like this either you keep working hard to proof that you able to accomplish the task given or resign to find another jobs that suit you better. :mellow3:

i agree with u..normally small company their benefits not that attractive..but one thing good bout small company is that almost e evrythin u also got touch (try all kinds of stuff) then in that way u learnt somethin in the end of the day..

Well in my employment it also stated I only need to do admin jobs not accounts but now my job is mainly on accounts. Do you have a copy of your appointment letter? You would need to read that in detail. Alot of stuff are inside that may or may not be to your advantage.

sometimez workin life is liddat one..when u newcomer evryone also wanna "porh" u..then when u come for some time liao then they find u not that interestin they will bo hiu u one..some timez when they see u abit toot toot one (eg like do thingz properly nv hv fun etc etc) they bully u one..learn n nx time when u go other company they will know how to "act".. (that'z what i think la.. x.x)

then also they will gradually increase ur workload one..
last time my post doesn't even exist..coz they short handed then employ one..then later they say evry month hv to send one report + daily one..
now we evry startin of the month so damn busy consilidatin reportSSSS (ie more then one) + the daily report also hv to do..sianz..

If you think that is bad, wait till you work for a larger company or an MNC!

Anyway, from a legal point of view, if you want to confront her (yeah, CONFRONT, but not necessarily in a hostile way), the only best weapon you have is your Letter of Appointment-- in it, it should have stated the job scope and responsibilities clearly.

Of course, your boss will probably say that she has every right to expand on your duties, since SHE IS THE BOSS. And she's probably right.

However, you can negotiate with her and let her know that you are still fresh on the job and need some time to settle in. BUT THAT IS PROVIDED YOU ARE AT LEAST DOING ALL THAT IS STATED IN YOUR LETTER OF APPOINTMENT. If you are underperforming, then the fault is all yours.

I sense alot of negativity in your post.

Unless you can see something positive in your job, it's might be better if you move on to another job.
