Wait and wait, no bus. Then 4 arrive together!



Financial manager David Soh, 51, says it's common to have to wait for between 20 minutes and half an hour for feeder service 291, and then see four service 291 buses arrive at his bus stop at one go.

"Residents of Tampines Street 33 are really frustrated over the infrequency every morning from 7.20am onwards," he told STOMP today (Jan 30).

"Bus bunching of three to four buses has been going on for years. Waiting time of 20 minutes is common.

"Despite feedback to LTA, PTC and RC - no action," he said.

Do understand that no similar service buses would move out from the interchange at same timing so they will move out at an interval of approx 15 min. But since the buses infront picked up all the passengers the rear buses will of course bypass the empty bus stop and hence catch up with the front buses. And also the front buses will have to stop frequently to pick up passengers therefore slowing down the first bus and made it easier for buses at the rear to catch up... you all now understand the logic? Its not the bus driver fault actually. By the way I'm not a bus driver but rather a passenger that board bus frequently.

ya i do agree.. another reason is traffic jam.. this slow down the bus infront n the bus after that will catch up wif the front bus..

bus 63 always jam at chinatown area.. sumtimes the waiting time can be up to 35 mins.. den 2 bus comes together =/

Think there are 2 ways to solve this problem
1. each bus only limit 10 passengers to aboard, the 11th onwards to wait for next bus which will arrive in 15min
2. each bus will only stop for 30sec, no matter is there passengers or not, just close door and go like MRT. So anyone too slow to board, will just wait for next bus, just like MRT

~yea it's like this as certain stops are indeed much more crowded than others. like the case of mrt stations... it's frustratingly crowded (no doubt) during the morning peak hrs... but where did most of the crowd dissipate?>> City Hall & Raffles Place. Really bo hua kind of crowded but also bo bian... Such cases often proved most tricky for the transport companies...
Of course I'd haf to admit I will also be one pissed individual if it happens to me. Wait 20mins no bus... then after which, 2-3 buses of the same no. come together. You'd be like wtf... (haha. human nature of it's other ppl's dai zee but if happen to me = cannot)

Come to think of it the main problem is actually the commuters (i.e. us) cos no one bothers to queue properly but all wanna be the 1st to squeeze in (cos scared later unable to get on board then = late liao) and on one wanna move to the centre (cos got ghost) >> seriously becos all scared later difficult to get down. Some examples include the MRT escalators and gates as well... Go figure!

Anyone remember tad Fire advert you'd see in the cinema? All squeez then = kena trapped. Proper queue = can clear faster.
BUT tell me how is it possible to change the masses? So too bad

I totally agree. Bunch of buses!

That's why I hate taking the bus. Even if it's just for 1 stop.

At least now the MRT is better. It arrives every 2-3 mins now.
