Default Views on donations

I was wondering what do we Sporeans feel and tink about donations after so many hoohas. U noe, NKF, den e dunno wad disabled community and recently Renci.

I'm always bothered by those sec students asking e public for donations. I was once a sec sch student too(not very long ago). I've been through that in sec sch as well as polys. I used to donate money to these ppls. But currently no. The problem is, I loose trust:
1) E charitable organisation
2) E students
We noe, they're 'forced' to participate in flag days to earn CIP(Community Service points) hrs. Dere's a min no. of hrs u haf to complete in sec sch(can't rmb hw many).

When i was in sec sch, my frenz did dig out money from e tins for lunch. When i was questioning em about their dids, they have their own reasons. They sae dat since we've 'worked' for em for free, why can't we just use some money for lunch? We work for free, still need to use our own pocket money for lunch?

Well, tinkin about it, why are schools asking their students to do compulsory flagdays? I was brought up in a religious environment. I always thought that donation is a virtue act and should not be forced upon. Rather should be done willingly.

Besides e flagday, they still gt donation cards. Sometimes, the schools even implement minimum quotations for each students. Dat's in, if u can't raise for eg, $50minimum per card, u fork out ur own money (Usually parents la). This is a very common thing in more 'branded' schs. They always sae dat they need to help needy students, but i've seen more aircons, building extensions in education as well as religious institutions.(These are luxurious items.)

Well, i'd love to donate and share more with e less priviledged. But there isn't a very transparent system. It's already a lot better in Singapore. But I believe it can be improved. Currently, I only believe in donating through red-cross.

i dislike those that keep on pestering to buy $2~$5 pens which are so totally not worth it.
I don't mind donating but theres a certain limit to our patience if someone keeps on bugging to ask us to buy tickets or pens from them.
its seriously irritating

Actually I've lost trust in those charitable associations. Donating to "tins" and buying pens/bookmarks already a big NO to me. With so many scams on the streets (still got despicable people purposely bring one child from orphanage or elsewhere and bring the kid along to beg for sympathy money), I would rather not donate when someone approach mi. If the public really want to donate, sending a cheque directly to the charities is not an issue. Its the integrity of the "charities" that we doubt.

Where else for Red Cross, I can still trust them tho..

I remember stories about people in charge of donation cans/bags shaking them to see if you have done enough.

I'm sick of seeing them hiding in one corner, eating and chatting like their own business. It makes students look like beggars.

Harsh word yes, but that's what I feel.

lol what a way of putting it as work. maybe telling them that the people donated money and trusted that the money will be channeled into the right hands, and by doing that, they are basically cheating the donors money. if they still have the heart to do so, then i have nothing left to say.

its abit saddening after all to realize that your money has been misused. thankfully there isnt anything about blood donors blood being used for illegal uses. i believe that would be worse than monetary donations.

the ability to dream is a great privilege. never give it up
