A traumatizing incident happened to my classmate and me today at JE Computer and Education Centre Pte Ltd. What happened is that the two of us have signed up for a 40 lessons Japanese language course as quoted by an admin staff in July this year. Subsequently, she resigned and the trouble began.

Our teacher told us that there is some miscommunication on the duration of the course and the actual time is only 30 lessons. We were told to speak to the new admin staff replacing Mary, called Mr. Lim. At the meet up, Mr. Lim promised us that he will stick to the 40 lessons since it was agreeded on beforehand.

However, today, The principal insisted that Mary, whom had left her designation is no longer representative of his school and hence her words are not binding. He also insisted that we were informed that it is a 60hrs course from Mary. But this is clearly not conveyed to us when we paid the fees. We were accused of[u] ‘not being educated because he claims that we do not understand what 60 hrs means. We were also accused of distorting information since Mary is no longer there and we can say whatever we wanted. I must emphasize that my classmate and I are educated people with an honest heart; we do not seek for more than what is promised to us.

I then told the principal that Mr. Lim which is his current employee has promised the same thing as Mary did. However, when Mr. Lim came, he denied everything and claimed nothing was confirmed by him. This provoked my classmate who pointed out that he is lying and she reminded him that she would seek legal advice.

What happened next was totally unexpected; Mr. Lim started his series of verbal abuse on the two of us. He threatened us that there is nothing he hasn’t seen after all these years, and he will wait for us in the school, he even welcomed us to sue him. He also threatened us not to raise our voice when we insist that he is lying when by this time; the two of us were already close to our tears. In fact, we were so traumatized that we left for our class because we were so afraid that physical abuse would followed next and also that our class would be forfeited. I do not understand why we have to suffer such abuse when we were just two girls trying to learn something new during our free time. Both of us ended up crying in the class.

What would you do if you suffered injustice like us? The receipts did not state the number of hrs of our course.

dont go there la come to bunka lai lai. JK. maybe they trying to cheat u nxt them u can check properly for more for more companies offering japanese language courses b4 signing up from a certain company. cheer up

if i suffered from ur case.. 30 course 30 course lor. after the 30 course just go other language centre and learn. they are not the only one in singapore.

No black and white hard to sue. They can deny everything. Unless all other students also promised 40 lessons, then can complain together, kick up a big fuss and ask for refund.

i duno if the police will handle these kinda issue. LAter, they gave us 2 more months 'out of gdwill'. But we have already suffered the verbal abuse.

Case might be able to help you solve the problem and get your money back. However, if you were verbally abused and felt threatened, you can report that to the police. They will investigate and depend on the magnitude of the threats, the Mr Lim might juz end up in jail.

Question is, is it worth all the trouble? Coz making a police report and seeing it through is alot of trouble.

i called CASE, they say they don't handle verbal abuse. And since we got no evidence in black and white, it is very likely that they will reject my application.

I guess police also need prove de bah.. Maybe because they verbal abuse will only kana warning bah.. As in how many lessons, if gt people can testify, i can high chance lor..

fen;u can actually lodge a police report for threatening cos under the law,even if u feel threaten by words,u can actually lodge a report for threatening....
cos under the law,threatening dun mean tru actions,
verbal words wich make u felt threaten fearing for your safety can be taken in as threatening

I called the police under case department for advise. They suggest that I go to MOE. I emailed MOE and the person in charge also say they don't deal with verbal abuse. They ask me to report it to the principal. But, the principal also joined in the verbal assault mah, then i report to him for his actions meh?

I duno which authority to go to now.
