Total SGC$: 335.30 | urgent!how to take care of baby rabbits. my rabbits just gave brith to 4 infant rabbits.As it is the first time for the mother, i am actually afraid that she does not know how to take care of the rabbits.Any experienced people can help me?
Just some of the things i want to know.
1) do i need to make a nest for them?if yes, then what is the material for the nest?
2) do i need to feed them?i read form the internet that the mum will feed them and can check from the babies' belly whether is full or not. but i am still very scared
any additional pointers pls help me.thanks alot. |

any additional pointers pls help me.thanks alot. | | | | | normally the mummy will build a fur nest herself...juz put in a piece of towel covering the pups to prevent the mummy to step on the pups and hurt them with her nails...when its feeding time (if she knew how to feed) she will go and remove the towel herself...so no worries...if u r worried that mummy did not feed her pups...there is another alternative way...dat is to hold down the mummy...stroke her...most of the time when u r stroking her...she will stay still and enjoy...at this time...move the pups with ur other hand without stopping the stroking...shift the pups under mummy's tummy...pups will automatically find they way to the milk....repeat this procedure every 3-4 hours once if possible...after feeding if mummy didnt lick the pups genitals...u will have to use a warm cotton and start wiping their genitals area to stimulate them to pee n poo... hope this helps

i went to the pet shop and bought milk powder and is now feeding thru the bottle.Any tips on doing that?
Actually the rabbit did create some sort of a fur nest but i thought they were shedded furs and threw them away already.And i tried to gently stroke the mum but when i place the child near her she will ran away.but i going to put a towel on the babies.thanks. |

I think it constipates them but a good alternative is goat's milk because it is gentle on their tummies. I'm not sure about rabbits so you might want to check with the pet shop on that. Also be very careful when feeding with a bottle because the milk will go in their nose and into the lungs causing pneumonia. |
