Wa... Sorrie, can't give any helpful comments. I got several friends facing such situation.

Notice tat its veri hard to get a good grade for GP... Its really competitive.

zihui: i tink u have a vry high chance of getting into either math or econs since ur both subject oso A. regarding gp, maybe hav to go ntu and take the english proficiency stuff ba. overall, u got As and Bs except for gp, so possibility of getting in shood be quite high, since economics require both math and econs.

economics is very easy to get in de. as long as you get FASS, you can get into economics.. and since you have h2, you should be able to skip the basic econ module (some foundation module) when you get in.. well, at leas that's just what the person who came down to my school said...

I got GP and H2 Bio C, while my H1 Econ, H2 Math and H2 Chem got B. any idea where i can go which such crappy result? and can i get into accountancy (ntu)? i'm also thinking of civil and environmental engineering (nus), and physics is not a neccessary pre-requisite (nus will need those w/o phy. background to go for phy. bridging modules)... someone please help, thanks!

Went for the SPH scholarship interview today. Think Its quite okay.

If I got the scholarship, do u think I should study in local Uni or foreign Uni ?? ( for foreign U, the scholarship covers baggage, clothing, settling-in and book allowances as well as return air tickets).

But must be bonded to SPH for four years upon completion of the course in a local university or six years when I return from an overseas university.

six yrs is quite long leh, but its a good opportunity if I can go oversea to study... advice anyone?

usually when you bond to a company (like sph), they will want you to study a particular course (e.g. communication studies, in this case) or else you'll be "useless" to them, 'cos they give you the scholarship solely to tap on your talent. if you insist on taking something else that's not related to the profession, they may just drop you off their list. so it's important to consider if you like the course they want you to take, and not just think of the financial aid they can provide.

Well, what what u have said is also correct.

Actually Mass Comm is my interested field. Its not that I do not wan to choose that course, Its becoz I cant get in the course.

I have looked at some students who took this scholarship, what they study also got nothing to do with media and languages. One SPH scholarship holder took Economics in oversea.

so, when you're offered the scholarship after the selection, you have to check out every single detail, see if there are any hidden rules (e.g. specific course you have to take).. 'cos i don't think sph only give out one scholarship, they have different scholarships, for different depts.. if everything seems normal, i don't see why you should give up the chance in any way. scholarships are hard to come by (like in my case, i can't apply for any because i don't have a friggin' A except for my chinese, and i'm not taking any h3)

when considering whether to go abroad or stay in singapore for your degree, it depends what uni the company can offer. it is vital to check out the uni's reputation in that field, and if you like the environment. the school's culture is important as well, because certain universities are "well-known" for their discrimination against asians etc. but of course, you have to consider the school's popularity amongst international students... the more popular it is, the more difficult to get in, the harder to dig out the situation in the school (e.g. bullying cases, drug addicts)
