I'm going to UK in augest and it'll be my first time going to such a far off country. Can anyone give me details on the weather, cost of necessities, etc. there so I can prepare? Anything helpful will be really welcome.
Thanks

UK in August is summer time, but if UK the weather is usually unpredictable. Like this July, it's predicted to be warm and rainy, so who knows what August may hold. But becoz it's so changeable, always try to check the weather report the nite b4. A light rain jacket/umbrella is always useful. Sometimes day temp may be warm at 22C, but towards the evening it gets abit chilly. At least you will have long days where sun will only set around 8pm ish.
Uk is relatively expensive country compared to Singapore, everytime you see and buy is 2.7x more than in Singapore, so food etc are more costly. There will be summer sale the time you are here, so you may get some good buys. Local brands are slightly cheaper here than in Singapore, like things from marks and spencers, bodyshop, warehouse etc.
If you are in London, accommodation can be expensive unless you are staying in hostels....
Moving around UK is easy, get yourself a railpass and hope on the train, there's more to UK than London itself like Cambridge, stratford upon avon, too many to name.
If you like more help or questions, u can send me a pm. I am a singaporean living in the uK for the past 10 yrs, so hopefully can be of help to you!
Cheers,

Had a friend of a friend who was in London and got her bag stolen in a cafe.
She rang me for help, as she didn't have anything. Lost all her cards, passport, money!!!etc.
Luckily she got her airticket changed to go home earlier (covered by her travel insurance)
and to the high commission to get her passport sorted. |

To cut hair is average of about £25 which equates to $70 SGD, and it's just a haircut, dun even talk about other treatments and works .
Food is more expensive. Only thing that is cheaper than in Singapore are the cars |
