SGC$: 19.50 Bank: 0.00 Total SGC$: 19.50 | for me, i find it hard to accept the pets will be sterilised before i can adopt them. and also the procedures and screening done to the adopter made it harder for me to consider adopting pets from animal shelter. |

or it s jux a preceived feelin.... but wat i noe tat the animals will b put to sleep if nobody adopt them in a few mths due to the lack of space in SPCA.... tis s the procedure from SPCA website(i dun noe if it will b uncomfy 4 u): The adoption of the animal is free, but you pay for the compulsory medical expenses which include the cost of sterilization, microchipping, vaccination and deworming . Female dog $155 Male dog $145 Female cat $65 Male cat $50 Rabbits $10 Purebreed rabbits $50 Small mammals (hamsters, guinea pigs) $10 (microchip not incl.) As a pet is a lifetime commitment with considerable responsibilities involved, the SPCA requests that preferably the whole family come to view the pet. Of course, if this is really not possible, you can come with just one parent . A counsellor will be on hand to help with queries and to advise you on various issues. ![]()

SGC$: 19.50 Bank: 0.00 Total SGC$: 19.50 | i don't believe the cost incuring medical expenses for the pets is the main issue, preceding an adoption. but the skeptical attitude for sterilization still lie in many of our minds, at least in my friends n family members. Since we are adopting a pet means we are able to give him/her a new life, an even complete life as a parent. its always hard to hear these pets are to be put to sleep when no one takes them...but that is not the last solution for them i believe... surely SPCA or other animals shelter knows the reason behind for a petslover not consider an adoption...they got to do a review it is the same thoery when a couple wants to adopt a child, but the child needs be sterilised before adoption... i know i sound selfish, but im being frank ![]() |

no point suggesting to them, they have their stand"sterilised=control population, better health n so on" . what we can do together is educating pets owner..helping them find an adopter when owner is giving up..rather than waiting pets become stray then we start to call exp.SPCA just my opinion ![]()

i think it s the pet owners' fault.... normally adopt or buy pets becos they r so cute as babies etc etc.... they 4gotten tat the pets need attention... they need to eat and sleep and they fall sick too.... they can pee n shit.... somethimes vomit or even haf mood swings.... and they wont stay cute forever as babies... YES, THEY WILL GROW UP AND AGE TOO.... THEY R NOT SOFT TOYS.... ![]()

SGC$: 11.00 Bank: 24.60 Total SGC$: 35.60 | Hmm... my initial response when I read the question was "No". Especially the small pets from the SPCA. It's $10 per tiny pet (eg. hamster), and frankly I think that's pretty ridiculous considering that u can buy one from the pet store for half the price. Not to mention... the ones that u get from a pet store are generally younger than the ones up for adoption in the SPCA. Well... I know, it's all about giving those critters a 2nd chances in life & money shouldn't be an issue, right? But look @ it frm a practical viewpoint - those small pets don't have a long lifespan, and most of them are already in their adulthood and tend to be rather uhmm... "nippy" due to neglect from their previous owners. Those smaller ones aside... |
