Default Time to ban smoking while driving?

A STOMPer asks if it is time to ban smoking while driving, as it's among the habits that distract the motorists.

Citing a recent report that linked chatting on a hand-held phone while behind the wheel with anti-social behaviour, STOMPer Roaduser asked: "Are we ready to consider smoking while behind the wheel as the next?"

The STOMPer, citing the same report, noted that the ban on chatting on the handphone while driving can only lead to a reduction in road accidents and deaths.

And it makes sense to "consider other habits that distract the driver".

He took this photo in the Suntec City area on Jan 4, saying it is common to see people smoking while driving.

"Is smoking as bad...or even worse because the cigarette is lighted?"
