Default THREAD CLOSED

Firstly, I want to make it CLEAR that I am NOT the organizer for the next Makan Outing hor...

As there has been so many postings discussing the 2nd Makan Outing, I kaypoh create this thread so that members can give suggestions and their 2 cents' worth of opinion here..:biggrin4: No offense ah!

As with the 1st Makan Outing, the objective is to source and suss out foodstalls that have been praised by the newspapers, magazines, Tv as having THE best, THE tastiest, THE most delicious kind of food they sell. Yeah, we don't believe what all the press says, do we? :biggrin4:

So...EVERY month we'll pick a day and a date convenient to MOST members (difficult to please ALL members lah) to gather together and enjoy hopefully, a good meal. Eating has been said to be one of our favourite past-time so as all of us have to eat. A Makan Outing is basically, an activity whereby even the shyest member will find it not so stressful to join in. Who doesn't eat out huh?

The 1st Makan Outing was just that - we ate and we left....and we talked about the food, the company and the members in the Feedback thread. That's part of the purpose for us to go to the outing - have a common subject to dissect and express our personal point of view.

For future Makan Outings, there should be after-meal activities as gradually those who turn up for outings regularly would have bonded better with like-minded members. The Free & Easy time after the meal is supposed to be for members to pair up with those they WANT to go to a movie, shopping or whatever with.

Planning an activity after a meal for everyone is always a pain in the neck as individuals will have different opinions of what they want to do. Someone wants to play pool, someone wants to go sight-seeing, etc, etc...

The expenses incurred for outings must also be taken into consideration as not all members have the budget to splurge on going places that requires a fat wallet.

If any member knows of any places that is fun to go, inexpensive and has mass appeal, please share with us.

In the meantime, the Makan Outing will stay as it is. CENTRAL Singapore is where we'll hunt for good food and until we've exhausted all the yummy foodstalls in Central Singapore, we'll then move North, East & West Singapore.

Some members are calling for steamboat...steamboats are best eaten in the evenings so the BIG topic for discussion is - How many of us can really make it for dinner?

Violette and myself prefer lunch but that doesn't mean without us, the Makan Outing is off. To be fair, the organizer should be different for each month so that Violette is not always imposed upon, much as we love to do that. :biggrin4:

Let's discuss........

It is not the place, nor the condition, but the mind alone that can make anyone happy or miserable.

First up, I don’t have the slightest idea as to where good foods are. Since I have tendered my resignation already, quitting at the last day of feb, I’d be free during March so I don’t mind organizing. but I dunno where the good food are.. <_<

I guess the members can decide on their own on what to do after the outing. I’m sorry, on the first makan outing I couldn’t go anywhere with you guys cos I had already arrange with my friend to meet her but I’ll try not to in the future to keep my slots free (wah I sound so busy LOL) so as to join you all for after-meal activities.

I think activities in the free & easy time can be decided fast. Usually the most common thing would be watch a movie. So maybe bring along some extra cash?

I agree with the steamboat eaten at night. I don’t mind dinner.. actually I prefer dinner haha. Hmmm to me, most sgclub members are very sporting, I think some would be able to make it for dinner since most of the time, outings would fall on sat right? Sat stay out late, sun can rest mah. But I also agree that dinner is not such a good idea because there ARE some members who cant stay out late.

MAMA how can you not go?! And vio! One of out oldest member. It’s a must =x No lah. Just saying that with you all, it will be more fun. (im not saying without u is not fun)

Yep my opinions.

i agree tat the makan outing shall remain as central singapore area first before we tackle other areas.. will be a better meetup location for those members who stayed quite far..
