Default Is it teachers/adults fault?

For our generations, teachers love to complain about students for not listening in class. But, do most of the teachers reflect on why students did not listen in class.I got to watch a Taiwan show.It talks about whether punishment works on students.I strongly believe that punishment do not work on youngsters/teenagers like us.So,everybody, care to share whether is it the students fault for not listening in class or teachers fault for not making the lesson interesting enough to allow students to pay attention? And do u all believe punishment works?
Example: u late for school and u are being punished to run around the field
What does late for school gonna do with running around the field?

I guess you probable like me have been taught under many kinds of teachers...

But i think its both party fault lor

If teacher complain you not listening, then you complain that the lesson is not interesting or the teaching style does not suit you so get tuition?

I think the teacher's pay not that big either so can't blame them for not giving it their all at times ?

I think students also sometimes have off days or problems of their own, so can't blame them for being distracted ?

But if a teacher is really bad/boring then must tell other teacher lor
Likewise if the student is really not listening then must find out/counsel the student to see anything wrong ?

Yes, it does! People who hate running as punishment will have the tendency to try to be on time for school in the future. But of course, it's not effective as a punishment lol.

I always thought it was a hidden excuse to publicly embarrassed people =/ ?

But i guess either case there have to be a punishment of some sort , but for
repeat offenders who might be the thick skin type , the Schools should be
flexible and realize that such punishment is counter productive

Me too, i dont believe that making us run around the field would make us be punctual for school.

Eg. After you run and run so many rounds, you'll get tired and you'll tend to not be able to wake up the next morning and you'll be late again.

OR

Eg. Traffic jam everyday on the road to school, what to do?

Running around the field is just a temp method to punish the students.I think schools and teachers should gather around and discuss on how to help the students! Sum more, this kind of punishments will not affect the overall amount of latecomers because students don't mind running because in their mind,it just running.Schools need to let students see the important of being early which will help them in a lot of areas.Example working, meeting people.I believe nobody love to wait too long for a person!

Teachers mostly teach in their monotanous tone ( dunno spelt correctly anot)
i think they not even teaching..just saying out what has to be taught for the sake of saying..they dun even forge a bond with the students, then they just down there talk talk talk..then we all can at least listen attentively for the 1st few mins, but after that will get sick of it. i believe that teachers should upgrade their teaching skills and follow what 's latest to capture our attention. But of course, as students, we must also particpate actively when these teachers are actually trying to " connect " with us, trying to improve the lesson's effectiveness. And punishnments don't work at all at least for unreasonable offenses.. But glad that schools actually come up with surveys on whether the school is punishnment system is effective..well the answer is obvious by students..SD!

So whose fault?

I am also in instructional role,
there's never a teacher who is happy or wish to make ppl run or punish them.
There's always a good reason to be late but there is no reason to be always late.
Teachers can always close 1 eye and just carry on with their lessons, but damn... diam diam late really makes me TL, so must punish. How to punish? To me very simple, you waste my time, I also waste your time.

put yourself in a teaching shoe. how do you propose to teach. many of us tend to think that something is easy till we do it ourselves. if its easy, why is there a shortage of teachers?

i always fall asleep in class, and i dont blame the teacher once. i blame myself because im just not the academic kind of person. it takes me two minutes to fall asleep in front of a text book.

as for running around the field, it teaches you to hurry if you know you are running late. while i agree with you that punishing may not work for all, there has to be some form of deterrence to prevent more from following suit.

as a student it is your job to pay attention, be punctual and study well. not to comment whether lesson is boring or the teacher is not creative. if you do your job, its unlikely you will get into trouble.

same goes for not talking when a teacher or classmate is talking at the front of the class.

btw, im amazed myself. this is the first proper post ive made in a long long while.
