why don't you guys visit the forum at sgwutan where many tall hands from other taiji styles there.
anyway, a quick intro: been up on taiji for 7 yrs now but only started to be more serious about 3 yrs ago when i learn chen style under wang hai jun. I have also learnt yang style and yiquan zhan zhuang, but my focus now is more on chen taiji.
Just got back after some years of working overseas so would like to meet like-minded people here in singapore to share and practice the art.
ok, hope you guys don't find me long winded. | | | | | Hi, i'm tjboy from sgwutan. May i know u're? Other than Zhu Tiancai, others such as Chen Xiaowang, Feng Zhiqiang, Chen Yu and more were here as well, so having traces is common ba. I assume you should have many opportunities to be guided by Chen Zhenglei since u're under Wang Haijun. So u're practising on yr own now? Feel free to share yr experiences here.

Yes i have been practicing on my own eversince this year.Got enough to work on so don't intend to take classes for the time being. However, it is good to know who are the teachers out there in Singapore. Been to the chen taiji association gathering on May day this year to get to know more people.
Been guided by CZL only once over 2 days and eversince i am practicing under wang hai jun, who guided me on laojia yilu, erlu and single sword.
Thanks for making me feel welcomed. I feel all styles of taiji share the same philosophy but with their own unique application and expression. Taiji is so vast and profound that no single lineage or school or style can fully express it. So it follows that i don't appreciate extreme opinions about which style or lineage is the best etc.
ok, that's all for now. Have you got the good fortune of being guided by CXW? |

I think it'll be great for u to move ard talking to other teachers on chen style as well. Different styles of taiji definitely have their good points, taiji itself is always in evolution.
Nope, no chance by cxw. Only my currently teacher have. 1st teacher not so sure, cos he's from henan, maybe have or maybe by others in chen jia gou since he's abt the same age as cxw. Which is why my routine is rather different from ZTC and more like CXW, ZTC told me its not a prob as long as the method is the same. But with interactions like ours we can perhaps discuss and possibly discover more finer pts of taiji (in our case its prob chen style), since a teacher can only guide that much and esp when teachers are not with us now. Forums like this really provides an opportunity for like minded pple to probe further into the subject matter.
BTW, have u bought the recent CXW DVDs? I think they'll worth watching.

There are more similarities between the routines of CXW and CZL than ZTC. Yes Xu Jinge did a performance at the end, as usual i guess. However, i felt he shook too much at the end of hidden fist punch. The vibration was at least 30cm. I once watched a dvd by Feng zhiqiang who explained and demonstrated what he thought was unacceptable shaking, and Xu jinge's vibration happen to fall into that category.
hey hzj,
tell us more about the yang and wu style taiji that you practice. Is that the Wu2 or Wu3 style? |

"yong jia"? is that commonly known as fast frame or small frame yang taiji? |

Yeah, thats the "Yong Jia" im talking about, u can call it the Fast Frame "Kuai Jia" or the Application Frame "Yong Jia". As for Small Frame Yang, we do all the form in Small Frame. Simplified 24, Traditional 108, Application Form, all done in Small Frame |

Frm CCK to Geylang considered short distance already, imagine in ancient china, no MRT, no Bus, no Car, den u have to walk all the way to ur Master's house juz to learn, mine is like Small House meet Big House:shifty3: |

If not the future of TCMA would be lost, everybody would only think that arts like Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jutsu, Wrestling or MMA, are the only Martial Arts worth learning. I not saying that Mt, Bjj, MMA are not martial arts, but because of shows like UFC, K-1 and stuff, it makes ppl think that "Ohh Cool. Those Arts are real Deadly, shld i continue my Kung fu class?? Cause i dun see any Kung Fu in those Rings, Kung Fu muz be real useless." |

yoUR school must be really something. One year only can apply techiques and the 8 jing in contact sparring. i can't even finish one form in a year, let alone understanding what push hands is all about. I've seen clips of your school on youtube and wah, damn alot of people man.
Regardless, i think the system you're following is good, as there's not many taiji out there that emphasize sparring, if any at all.
lucky you, but you gotta work hard!
