AT&T is going to sell a no-commitment version of 3G iPhone for 599 and 699 USD (8GB and 16GB respectively) which works out to 800 SGD for 8GB and 950 SGD for 16GB. Which is quite expensive! I bet singtel will follow the same price as AT&T if not they lose out, bear in mind that even you want to get it from US you need to activate it in store which means you need to subscribe a mobile line plan

Finally, a piece of news we can actually do something with. AT&T today announced its pricing structure for the next iteration of Apple's iPhone -- which you can plunk down money for come 8 am, July 11th. There's not much that's surprising here -- new customers and those eligible for an upgrade will be able to nab the phone for $199 (8GB) or $299 (16GB), while "early upgraders" will have to fork over $399 or $499, all with a two year contract and $18 upgrade fee, of course. The telco says a no-commitment version of the phone will be available for $599 and $699, though it looks like that will come after the initial launch. AT&T appears to be leaning pretty heavily towards the all-in unlimited plans, but there are options if you don't want to go that route. We've sorted out the basics after the break, and included AT&T's "iReady" video -- certainly good for a few chuckles.

hm... but competitors' pricing like those of the samsung i900 and touch diamond haf been slashed/ heavily subsidised (with plans & trade in) to rather affordable medium bracket region in anticipation of the iphone... hence this might also be the way for the iphone... so long as the telcos did their profit calculations, prices might not be tad far off i guess

No matter how high it cost I think still will have people go and buy it, just like PDA phone last time 1st launch is $1k+ for a O2 flame but still got people buy it
