JAKARTA - AN EARTHQUAKE measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale jolted Maluku islands in eastern Indonesia on Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, the meteorology agency said.
The quake was centred 128 km northwest of Saumlaki town in Southeast Maluku district at a depth of 100 km, the meteorology and geophysics agency said in a text message.
There were no reports of damage or casualties and the quake was unlikely to trigger a tsunami, given its depth, said Fauzi, the head of the agency's earthquake centre. -- REUTERS
