That's where the dilemma comes in.
1) Stay in current job, and keep my eyes peeled for a GOOD opportunity (one that I really want)
2) Leave current job after 1.5 more years, and slowly scout for suitable jobs, and choose the best one from there.
3) Take up the new offer
lols. Those who say they care really don't. Because those who do, don't need words to justify their actions.

LOL, but I agree with you on the 'gain more experience' stance... Those who say they care really don't. Because those who do, don't need words to justify their actions.

Lower pay, and since its not perm,i guessing little/no promotion chances ?
For me, i occasionally try to step out of my comfort zone, coz when you do, it makes you stronger
And besides, after the first few mths of awkwardness, you'll get used to the job, and it becomes your comfort zone too.
It also opens you to more job opportunities in the future... You can't stay in that particular line of job you're in forever, so being comfortable in many fields helps..
The flexi hours / medical benifits will also be useful to you when you have a family of your own.
So i say, Go on ! Its hard step to take but i think it'll be worth it..
And if the new job doesn't work out, then at least be proud to say that you had the guts to step out of your comfort zone. And that you left a job that was leading you nowhere.. aka. no prospects. |

People always stay inside their comfort zone because of the fear of unknown. Yet they don't realise once they step out of their comfort zone, a bigger circle of comfort zone can come by in a matter of months. =) Those who say they care really don't. Because those who do, don't need words to justify their actions.

LOL.
Cannot go back to current job lah.. They would have replaced me by the time I leave... Those who say they care really don't. Because those who do, don't need words to justify their actions.

For the new job they offered me, I was told they wanted someone with 1-3 years experience, and a degree holder [I have neither, so I don't know whether I can match up to their requirements, and seriously I thought I performed for the interview badly. -.-"]
Your thoughts, peeps?
| | | | | My opinion on job satisfaction vs pay is one thing, but job stability is another. I believe you mentioned you are currently on contract, yes? I believe that any decent permanent job offer is better than most contract jobs. Pay and benefits is only one of the issues.
Last year, I faced the same decision you are facing now. I was a contract staff in a Multi-National Company as an Analyst, and I enjoyed the job immensely. However, when a full time job offer came along, I could not honestly pass it up.
The pros were obvious. I was offered a much better pay, a much wider job scope and more responsibilities.
The cons were that I would be working in a small company, and my career path would switch. It was not so much a step down, as a step sideways and up. I was leaving my comfort zone, and charting unknown territories.
This is how I evaluated my offer, and came to a decision: In such a situation, you have to be fair to yourself first and foremost. No matter how much your company, your colleagues, and your bosses value you and your work, you are still on contract and subject to the budget and other corporate decisions. In short, you could lose your job, or get reshuffled through no fault of your own. Of course, there is also a chance that you could be converted to a full-time perm staff.
Since you already have a job you find satisfaction in, I would advise you only switch jobs if you really really really like the new job, or do not face the prospect of career growth with your current company. This is something I think only you can evaluate for yourself.
Once you've decided that you like the new job, I'd suggest you talk to your current bosses about the job offer and your intent to leave the company.
Tell them respectfully that you were offered a full time job, and the opportunities you have in the new job. Talk with them about the prospects of staying with your current company. See if they want you to stay and can work something out with the HR department.
It is unlikely, but if you like working in your current company it's worth a shot. At least then you can evaluate your choices more evenly, otherwise your choice should be clear to you.
Whatever you do however, do not let your colleagues or bosses convince you to "tough it out a while longer". Promises of future conversions or promotions are not worth anything unless in writing, signed and sealed by someone with authority.
"Destiny has no secrets."
