i heard from a friend, she grad from poly 5 years ago, that time she started working with a pay of only $1375 (havnt - CFP)...

now i just come out and work, my pay is $1700(havnt - CFP)....

5 years , $300++ different lei....

so is it true that our starting pay didnt increase over the years?

I normally dun see the trend this way. Starting pay is not a very big consideration. It is the career path available and the possibility to climb the corporate ladder, which I feel, are the more important considerations.

hey gal, there is a slight increase but the increment cannot catch-up with the yearly inflation, commodities increase, transportation increase and so on....

true... I agreed with mrleech... Its the career path that counts... starting pay is not really important... u can get 2k for a new job... but without career advancement, whats the point? After 5yrs of working, u may oly get 2.5k (Assume every yr u got 100 increment)
Whereas if a person join the company at 1.5k, but have career advancement. Like promotion etc... He may be getting 3k in 3yrs time... so its not the starting pay that count lor..

If you want a good starting pay, get a degree and join the government sector. Starting pay ranges for 2.8 to 3.8k for guys after NS. That is pretty good in general, but the increment will be...I guess maybe private sector will be better
