SINGAPORE: The Education Ministry is looking at appointing School Staff Developers (SSD) in every school.
An SSD is a senior staff member who looks after the planning and implementation of the professional development of teachers and staff.
This was announced by Education Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam at a teachers' graduation ceremony at the Nanyang Technological University.
He said MOE is currently testing the appointment of an SSD in a mixture of primary, secondary schools and junior colleges before rolling out this scheme to all schools.
Mr Tharman said: "We are giving dedicated attention to the individual well-being of our teachers. A staff well-being unit has been set up in the ministry as part of our Training and Development Division to promote an integrated approach to the physical, social and emotional dimensions."
