Default Solution for sweaty palm bowler ?

wonder if there is any gd solution for sweaty palm bowler? I suffer from rather bad sweaty palm problem and esp the thumb area , currently I am using those puff balls but sometime it get rather messy and sticky after the powder and the sweat mix together .... making it worst !

Was wondering does those tapes help and which type if recommended ? Was thinking if it will comes off easily or not after the thumb starts to sweat again ? Am also looking at this brunswick thumbsaver thing ...http://www.bowling.com/products/brun...right-hand.htm , anyone know where can i get this locally ? Just wanna try to see if it helps for me .

I also got the same problem. The thumbsaver thingy doesnt seem to help me at all. I am not sure if it is suppose to aid in sweaty palm or thumb. Tape will definitely help. I use tape but relatively thin ones and depending on the environment, it may stick for a long time or it keeps coming out. That's when I dab superglue on the edges. That one sure can work.

I don't see much in the thumb saver thing.. If your index and middle finger is sweaty the outcome will be messy yadda yadda.

For me i use powder and then blow dry lol. Not too much though. rub and blow dry. But i do it constantly before i bowl. lol.

Liars will always be liars.

sweaty palm easy to solve just wear a tacky glove....
that will block the sweat on the palm n the ball...
as for sweaty thumbs...
u must understand the thumb saver as it is called literally is to save the thumb from calluses and abrasion...
i know mindfreak got one and he just threw it on the floor after 2 throws...and we had lots of fun with it also hahahaha
using tape will be a good solution but u must know wat tape to use as there are diff "smotthness' for diff purposes...
i thnk the main thing will be how to stick it onto your thumb ..
my advice would be before applying tape, wash clean with soap to remove oil and such cos sweat does contain oil ,than use alcohol to clean your thumb and than slap the tape on...
than constantly puff your hand...if u want can try something call rosin
its totally diff from puff ball...but u gotta be careful cos that thing really sticks to the hand

yes ... mindfreak brought that thumb thingy along on wed evening @ planet. It basically has no grip and the ball kind of drop premature. Eventually we end up making fun of that gadget coz it really looks like something kinky ... haha ...

The place I got already no more liao. ..was from Kim Seng Plaza.
Forget it lah... it is not for sweaty thumb. It is meant for protecting against abrasion and calluses, but it is basically useless. Putting it on would also increase ur thumb size which means u need to drill the thumb hole taking into that saver into account. Some how it affects the pitch or size.
If the sweaty thumb is affecting ur grip, it is better to buy textured tape which you can insert into the thumbhole and wear tape on your thumb as well and blow blow dry before each throw.

I think I might still have it if you want but the part where it is rough is already tatter and torn.
I bought it without really understanding as I was trying to grip the house ball.

In summary, give it up .... haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I have very sweaty hands too. Been experimenting to solve this problem and manage to find something that works for me, though not all the time.

Everytime I reach the bowling centre and got my lane, I would wash my hands first before bowling with soap and water. Detergent is preferred if you can get one as it is good to wash off all the sweat and grease on your hands, though it will dry up your hands. After that, wipe dry with hand towel. Toilet roll can be an alternative. DO NOT use the hot air blower that is located in the toilet as it will cause your hands to sweat again. If the blower blows out cold air like those from the hand dryer on the ball return machine, you can use it. After that, I would apply skin patch on the thumb and palm area which is most susceptible to blister because the spans and pitches on my bowling balls weren't drilled correctly last time. Even though I do not have much blister nowadays, I still apply it for prevention purposes.

When I'm ready to bowl, I will use the blower to blow my hands dry. I found that it helps to keep my non bowling hand dry as well because if it's sweating, the bowling hand will tend to sweat as well. Wait till it's completely dry, then I will apply puff ball on my hands, blow the hand again, apply some puff ball on the finger and thumb holes of my bowling ball and I'm ready to go. It also helps if you have a seperate towel just to wipe your hands from sweat. That means you SHOULD not use the same towel which you use to wipe your ball to wipe your hands as the result would be greasy fingers dropping the ball in the backswing! This method works well for me when the bowling centre is real cold. I noticed when I bowl in a centre which is more warm and humid, the sweaty problem gets worse. One example of 'cold' bowling centre is Kallang Bowl. My hands can be quite dry when I bowl there.

Alternatively if you want to solve this problem once and for all, you can spend a few grand to go for operation which will burn away the sweat glands connecting to your hands, but please use that as a last last last last X10 resort as there may be side effects! Hope that helps!
