Ms Ginny Goh, a senior manager at MDA's Media Content Division told Today via email: "MDA has written to the broadcaster on the matter and it is not appropriate for us to comment on it at this stage." . It is understood the topics were deemed "not appropriate" by the MDA. . There was also concern over the timing of the segment. Although Class 95FM, the most popular English radio station here, is targeted at adults, many children might be tuned in as they travel to school at the time the segment was being aired. . The DJs also prolonged the discussion by soliciting listener call-ins and reading SMSes from listeners. . The recent Programmes Advisory Committee for English Programmes (Pace) report had advised DJs to avoid relying on sexually suggestive and sensational content to attract listeners. And Today understands that Pace members "unanimously agreed" with the MDA's findings in this case. . The fine comes after Class 95FM was issued a warning in June after another DJ gave instructions on a sex technique "the goldfish way of making love" during a programme that was aired before 10pm.

And what are they doing with radio-receiving devices?

My cousins are still banned from bringing their mp4 players to school, as far as I know.

Pssh, that's pretty light. The DJs talk about this kind of thing all the time. So far as I recall, I was never offended by it.

And parents, face it... Your kids are probably more knowledgeable about the Kamasutra than you are. XP

I dont see anything wrong discussing this topic on radio. MDA too strict already.. nowadays kids know more things than those kids in the past. Even if they dont hear it from the radio, there are still alot of ways to know it

i'd say the kids nowdays are ar smarter than we tot. some pri sch kids even noe how to smoke liaox, sex is nth le ba. 7am is ard the kids are in sch le ba.. those who are not wld probably be listenin to their own song instead of radio.

I don't think it's offensive, but if I had a young child, I wouldn't want him/her to be listening to this. It's not really appropriate.

Come on lah~ It's gud tat the kids r learning sth... erm... not as if they will always be forbbiden, one fine day kids will grow up de lei... Wait till tat time, wun it be too late liao? my fren was telling me, 'ehh ah girl u better den ur sis abt safe sex,'... and i was lik 'wad?!'... she tell me ah, nowadays kids in sch hor, pick up things very fast one... even family kips sex issue as a no-no topic at home hor, they can learn almost everything online and in sch... U know those hear-say-wivey-tales lo~ so better teach them all tis first.... hmmm... sound true lo...

I think those tat complainted might be those on the way to work driving car de lor... den hear till excited already nearly create accidents, so blame it on the topic...

oh man..its a very liberal society now.what makes them think that kids wnt understand what they are discussing?perhaps the kids know even more than the parents

Because they are KIDS! Remember that we're not just talking about teens, we're also talking about pre-teens. Since they are so young, and have yet to mature physically or mentally, they are unable to separate fact from fiction, something told seriously or in jest. This could colour their perception prematurely, giving them misconceptions about the topic of sex. A radio show shouldn't be their source of sexual education.

Of course, kids can surf porn sites, watch tv with sexual content etc. But this comes down to responsible parenting. Of course, they can still do it behind your back, but at least it is clear that what they are doing at a young age is not approved.

totally agree with you .
even like some of the drama in local .
they had killing & raping scenes ,
young kids will just learn and follow ,
wads more, they are curious, definitely they will ask their
parents for more details, and some parents are kinda traditional,
instead of giving the correct signal, they will jus say " xiao hai zi bie wen zhe mo duo"

of cos the kids will want to further check on certain stuffs they are really curious about .
now behind their parents' back. they will surf online to check more, see more.
which is even more unhealthy .

oh btw , read frm newspaper that, theres this vcd about sexual education specially for the teens .
now in stock in several shops.
