Hard Dance / Hard Style

DARK BY DESIGN (UK)

Dark by Design aka Gaz West, has risen through the ranks of the dance music establishment at a phenomenal pace over the last five years. He celebrated his accolade of Best Remixer at the much hyped Hard Dance Awards 2006. He has already released 40 tracks on ten different labels, which have sold over 150,000 copies worldwide.

There are not many artists that can boast launching their DJ career at clubs such as Goodgreef - UK's leading club based in Manchester and the former Mixmag “Club of the year”, in addition to a much envied debut at the 7,000 capacity HQXL at the Docklands in Amsterdam in 2004. 2005 saw DbD rock the likes of Creamfields (Tidy Arena) , Dance Valley in Holland, Escape In The Park Wales and Planet Love in Northern Ireland, Tidy Weekender 7 & 8 in Prestatyn, North Wales and Hard House Academy at Brixton Academy, and NYE in the Frantic Arena at the Slammin Vinyl event at NEC Birmingham.

DbD also recently played for Q Dance’s Defqon1 Festival in Holland and a return tour of Australia, including a set at the infamous Transmission Festival. He also gave a live performance on the massive HQ Stage at the world renowned Dance Valley festival in Holland and a return tour to Asia at the legendary Valfare in Japan.

Now with the backing of the world’s biggest hard dance label, Tidy, DbD is releasing an awesome new double album featuring 30 tracks designed to give your sound system the working out of its life!

DAVID FORBES (UK)

David Forbes is a hard-hitting DJ and versatile music producer. He has produced most styles of electronic music, with releases on labels ranging from Subliminal Records, Vandit Records , Eve Records, and the legendary Noom Records, and is recently signing tracks to DJ Remy’s new label, 68 recordings on Armada music.

With over 13 years experience behind the turntables, David is no stranger to playing at global events. By the time he was 22, David had established himself as an international DJ through his productions in the early 90s on the massive Combined Forces label in Holland, as this success led him to have regular slots at the enormous combined forces parties in the Hauge for 20,000 people. He has played at some of the biggest clubs and parties in Holland, Switzerland, Ibiza, and Austria, had 7 interstate tours of Australia since 2000 and also headlined the Utopia party in the Sydney superdome for 20,000 party goers.

In 2000, David released his most popular track to date with his summer smash “Questions”. It was championed by Judge Jules and ran for 8 weeks on his radio 1 show and was getting plays from every top international DJ in the world. At the same time David was part of public Domain who had the million selling single Operation Blade.

He eventually set up his own labels, Debunk Records and Redmonkey Records. With his Debunk label, he concentrated on his Scanners Guise and collaborated with the likes of Steve Lawler, Mike Monday, Deepgroove, and Oliver Moldan, and achieved 2 Balance Chart USA Number Ones one after the other. With the continued support of Erick Morrilo, Rodger Sanchez, Steve Lawler, Paul Oakenfold, Marco V, the label has grown from strength to strength. With Redmonkey Records, David has concentrated on more of the bigroom Trance and Tech Trance sounds, and he released his long awaited follow-up to his massive “Questions” track - “Answers”, which made DJ Tiesto’s first live DVD extravaganza, and to date, is still selling 3 years after its release.

DR WILLIS (AUS)

2008 has seen Dr Willis evolve from one of Australia’s hardest working DJs to internationally acclaimed DJ and producer. As a DJ, he has officially played at the 2 most prestigious events for his genre of expertise the world has to offer, Dance Valley and Defqon1 in the space of 4 weeks. In between that was a quick stop to Germany’s most recognisable trance/progressive club - Tunnel, as headlining guest plus numerous other European destinations including Goodgreef in the UK, Lost in Belfast and Liquid rooms in Edinburgh. Overseas performances are no stranger to this boy from down under and he has now covered Asia with acts in Japan, Malaysia, China, New Zealand.

To date, each release has hit number one on numerous worldwide sales charts, playlisted by nearly every major DJ within the style of release and been signed to over 20 compilations worldwide. With DJs like Scot Project, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell & Marco V all eagerly awaiting each new release it would be a understatement to say that Dr Willis has now cemented himself firmly as Australia’s number 1 Tech/Trance producer.

Another major part in the discography of Dr Willis is the compilation series, Generationext, which in April 2008, sees the fourth release in the House2Hard series which now is the highest selling CD release in Australia exceeding 130 beats per minute. The concept has been welcomed into a CD market that has been flooded with generic follow-the-leader style releases and continues to gain attention by the minute from retailers, artists, record labels, sponsors and corporate companies.
