So are there any ways a trader can be protected from a correction? Just based on speculation and trending? If a particular company's fundamentals did not change much earnings does not change much and yet the prices shoots beyond logic, there is a higher chance of a correction? |

But who are the brave hearts? I remember in 2006, there is a serious correction in my of my counters. Being trader, you need a strong heart.
I remember when I bought 200 0000 shares on Nanhai, it went up by 5 cents, my heart couldn't take it also, pumping too fast and almost fainted. I managed to sold off the shares before I fainted. Every cent is S$4000. I was caught by surprise too. If I bought 2 days earlier, my total profit would be S$50k to S$60k in 3 days.

Total SGC$: 1,384.85 | Re: See my trades for 1 month We had a nervous noon session. Shorting down Uniasia. I shorted from $2.65 til $2.78. The price went up and we keep shorting. We keep losing the battle at first but We are glad we won the battle. Tomorrow is another shorting day. Sinostar will be next once it cross $0.97.
In stock market, making the price down is easier than pushing up. Now is $1.83. There is still room to push down the price but we are not taking chance. Cover back time. Once we cover back the price will move up.
Oh, I've to admit the deadly blow didn't come from us. Someone else have the same thinking as us. We merely trigger the fall, the rest is sold by big funds. But this move is not surprise although it caught eveyone by surprise. It caught us by surprise too in fact athough we anticipate this move. If anyone has been following my thread, I already told everyone I will short this counter once the price is right. I did a quick search on the company, seems there is no reasons for the sudden high rise, purely speculation. I ask all my friends on this stock, everyone had the same idea, saw a fat goose beefing up herself for slaughter. I wanted to short at $2.50 last week however I hold my moves due to weekends, anything can happen during the 2 days. So today is the day.
Today we will be celebrating this victory.
This move by big funds also indicates they are trying to get rid of stocks. I really start to get worry for others who are still holding large amount of shares. Trading is not totally about making money, in fact we hate to see retailers get burnt.

Nah, I won't join in, too dangerous to short at this price. Uniasia graph has too many big gaps to be filled up. Wonder how many people got burnt chasing this stock. Coverback completed. We pushed the price up by 7 cents. There may be a tecnical rebound for uniasia tomorrow as it is oversold today. I anticipate it will rise and drop back again. Tomorrow is another chance to short if there is a technical rebound.

Next support wil be at $1.30+-. If it continues to drop, then ask for blessing. Anyway enough of Uniasia, I will not add fuel to fire by shorting more. I have earn enough on this counter. It is likely more people will shoot it down as it is still on the high side. I don't really like Oct in general. In Nov, if sentiments gets better, get ready to load some stocks and sell before chinese new yr.

Total SGC$: 1,384.85 | Re: See my trades for 1 month Tonight DJ is in Red, not surprising. More profit warnings, oil is at all time high which is not good for all business. Oil is expected to rise for this winter. During winter, demands usually high. What caused the high demand for oil during winter? Use a bit of your brain juice, I'm sure you can think of the reasons.
Oil sensitive stocks will be hit. More bad news if oil continues to rise. All business need electricity to run. Transport will cost more, all business will be affected. All these really come at a bad timing, but it is not unexpected. Oil prices usually rise during winter time, we are moving into winter soon.
Oil sensitive stocks, which business uses alot of oil? Airline will be hit. Transport companies, what else? Put on your thinking cap.
If you are thinking to buy into SPC and those oil companies, think again. Think real hard, is it advisable? All these are oil refinary companies, their cost will be higher, what will happen to their profit margin?
What stocks will benefit? Think, if I can find a oil well, will I be rich?
I only have 10 more days to share my trades. In this last 10 days, I may not have alot of trades. I will also spent lesser time monitoring the stock market. During this period, it proved to be a very difficult time for me, I couldn't overcome certain personal issues. I really couldn't feel the happpiness I felt before. I came to realise money can't buy happiness, it just make misery a little easier to live with. Ok, enough of my shit, back to stocks.
I hope through my sharing, at least those who are interested in investment have a clearer picture. Those old birds will knows what to do. I'm more worried about those newbies who just listen to people. Normally, when someone ask me can I buy this stock. I will ask why? Usually I will hear, because I hear my friend say this, my friend say that? I will ask another question, does your friend works in this company? If yes, what position he/she holds? If it is an insider news, don't need to think so much, if there is any insider, the last one to know is people like you and me. Whenever you hear someone say....pls ask yourself all these questions and you should be fine.
Think logically when you do your investments. Check for rumours, check for news. Everything is logical, if it is not logical. Rather lose an opportunity than lose money. Remember for small retailers, you have limited funds, your money is like your weapon in a war game. If you anyhow use your bullets, do you think you have any bullets left ? Opportunity will come and go, take it easy.
Another thing I would like to share...when stock prices is rising, do you buy or sell? When prices are dropping, do you buy or sell?
Stock rise I will sell once it reach my target, no matter how much it can go, take and exit. If stocks prices drop, set a target price, once hit, buy and keep. (and hope for the best) (haha,, if you have done ur research well, you won't be hoping too much, because you know!) Oh read more financial news to gain more knowledge. I don't have the habit to read any financial news as it is really boring. The day I start trading, I knew this is my weapon for war. Now, if one day I don't read any news, it is like going out without brushing your teeth. :disgust2:
Anyone is welcome to pm me if you have something to ask. Wish everyone good luck. :biggrin4:
Warmest regards,
Jared

Indeed when many of us here when asked, what do u think can operate machinery. Most will answer oil, just wondering if any company has made use of the current technology and i strongly believe that a potential company will always have its research and back-up plan and this is it. We know that our natural resources, the oil esp, is depleting and its price constantly rising. So could there be some companies out there have already start sourcing for such eco-friendly sources.
Just trying to think out of the box, oil is not the only way oil-related companies can work. Though the oil market is not in favoured at the moment and even if u manage to find the company, u might just lack the momentary push of the market crowd. But do u all think such companies will be a good investment catch? Just some small thoughts of mine. |

Do some research on it. You can invest, it may take quite awhile for the investments to see return. I forgot which guru has invested heavily on this.

Total SGC$: 1,384.85 | Re: See my trades for 1 month I update one more time for uniasia. It is about time to load back, we will be loading back some once it falls again. The harder it falls, the more we load, first round will be at $1.30. I think rebound is likely to start tomorrow and catch shortist by surprise. We will average down if there is a need so our price remain "competitive". When people are shouting buy calls, we get ready to sell, when people are shouting sell calls, we load. This is all trading is about right? If you buy when everyone is buying and you sell when everyone is selling, then you are one big fat goose waiting to be slaughter only.
Sinostar got shoot down too but I'm not the culprit. It got shoot down at $0.96, my target is $0.97. Get ready to load this counter also, once it goes below $0.88. Look out for signs. If miss a chance, wait lor.
These 2 counters high speculative, not for the weak heart. I won't advise anyone to follow my trade as my trades are all pretty high risk trades. For me, I will always give price indication, most of the time I will be pretty close. I can recomend a good stock to INVEST, valuetronics. $0.285 per share, by my fund manager. Good night everyone.

Crude oil prices is at all time high, we are approaching winter, during this time oil is in demand. The last thing we need is a stop in production from OPEC. If this happen, we are in for a ride.
For me, I will stay sideline and watch, how bloody this battle will gt, I don't really know. Now I know why I lost my directions. Because I was waiting for this to happen and it didn't come sonner.

I wasn't around to see this rebound. In stock market no point blowing your own horns when you are just another cluesless fish.
Tonight DJ is supposedly to have a technical rebound and most probably there will be a techical rebound. If this doesn't happen tonight, more signs that we are moving towards the correction phrase. If tonight there is a technical rebound, we still need to monitor closely. The late strong rebound of STI confuse me totally. Anyway hope most of you are just fine.

How market will interept and react to this news I don't know. I know it is not a good news. DJ is down by 3 digit at 2.20am. http://www.marketwatch.com/news/stor...C79BB2475C4%7D
During this time of the year, people will buy into technology stocks as usually they have unusally good results for the last quarter of the yr. During X'mas, many people like to buy gadgets as gift. So choose the company carefully and you will be rewarded.
