Scholarships for Universities

Very very very interested.. But don't have much info about it.. My sis told me got those with bond and without.. She say without better.. But I not sure about it..

Anyone who has gotten Scholarships for University? And what Scholarship issit? When to apply and stuff? After graduated in Poly or after comfirmation to Univeristy?

Yeah. I wouldn't comment anything on SAF. But those army personnel will know. As a commander in SAF, I still think i don't like anything there. Yeah. Kinda give me this feeling i just wanna ORD fast. Yeah.

Is not the training, but is the outfield and the 24 7 clock. Be realistic. Look at the bigger things. Imagine your wife is pregnant, and yet they call you up for activation on nation issue to save other country. How you gonna handle it? And staying in camp for duty at least a few times a month? No way i gonna do that lo. So before you sign think carefully.

To me, signing on with the SAF is just like selling your soul and your freedom. Do so at your own risk. Haha unless u are those type who really got Interest and Passion in serving your country..

i also have scholarships... frm the navy and airforce... when i see the offer i no need to think twice i straight turn down their offer... 5 yrs sia... serve 2 yrs NS gd enough le still need 5 yrs...

erm..have you put in the effort to search the web?? it's quite easy actually -_-...you can try brightsparks http://brightsparks.com.sg/ if not, your school would ahve given you a list of scholarships available when you collected your results..i can;t remeber the name of the magazine though..haha..it escapes my mind at this present moment..but yeah..should be quite easy to find. it has listed all the requirements you need in order to apply, the bond years and for what kind of degree it is being offered for.

the best way to look for a scholarship is to ask yourself what you want. which area are you going to focus on and take a degree in? thena sk yourself if you would like to work in taht organisation...of cos you will have to do your homework and read up on that organisation. then decide if you want to be bonded. you can also look at comapnies that you are interested in and check their website to see if they offer scholarships...i still think that the best scholarships are those without bonds, offered by the university...

most of the time, you will need rather stellar results but you also need to be good in CCA...haha..well rounded education what..it's best if you ahve s papers..ahah

as for me, haha..erm..i took 1 s papaer but kena undgraded..hehe..damn jialat..but not too bad i still managed to get a couple of scholarship offers even though i didn't get 4 As and A1 in Gp..but my CCA A1 and projectwork band 1 la so maybe it helped..ahah...i was offered the NTU scholarship and one from KPMg..but then in the end i didn't take it up...then SMU i was on waiting list..wahahah..didn;t apply from NUS..but now think about it..should have cos I'm in NUs -_-''' waste my time applying for the others man..no la kidding..going for interviews quite fun..hahah

long story as to why i didn't take the scholarship..but ya..try for it..you never know... =D

i'm also feel like trying for scholarship, like quite song lei, wa study U no need money and still got money to take somemore..

budden i think the last thing you do is getting a SAF bond.. i'm inside now and it feels like hell

i oso only gt 3 A lvl sub.. dunno lei, just try lor.. anyway try no need money and can ask ur sgt for more book out for interview also

Hhaha..I applied of MANY!!1 I think i wasted a lot of $$ on photocopying and stapms man.. -_-''but only a few called me up for interview..sian..

haha..it's through that the no bond scholarships are better but there are hidden responsibiliteis that come with it. In most cases, you'd be expected to maintain your grades and it won't be taht easy cos everyone in uni studies..plus you might be called upon to host events or be involved in events that the school organises..but take it as a chance to learn i guess.

I think the SMU scholarship is offered to a lot of pple so if you are going there you could try. If you impress the interviewers, there's a high chance you'll get the scholarship.

Yup..if you are a science student that is taking 3 A level subjects it might be a bit difficult but you could still try. =D no harm trying! :biggrin4:

haha i might have a few...

1. Dress appropriately...this is obvious..but i still saw a girl wearing jeans -_-''

2. Be confident! regardless of what results you got, there will be someone who did better then you. but since all of you are called for the interview, it's a level playing ground already.

3. read up on the organisation or school and the scholarship you have applied for. Know what you are being interview for and waht this scholarship means to the company and waht they expect out of you.

4. read current issues. I'm pretty sure somone will ask some thing on current issues, like for example, the pay rise. Cos i got a question on the elections last year..

5. relax and enjoy. cos if you don't you will not be able to think fast and answer the interviewers and give them a satisfactory ans.

6. be sure of yourself cos you might get standard questions like why are you suited for us and blah..and yup..it's time to be shamless and push yourself to them..ahah..think salesman! wahaha..but it's actually just putting yur crapping skills to good use la huh..haha

7. read up on things related to the scholarship..like for example if you are going for an Econs scholarship, read up on the price of Gold and how much a barrel of Oil is currently...basic knowledge..you gotta convince them that you are passionate about this.

8.For ladies, it will be better for you to tie up your hair or at least make sure your hair is not in your face.

9. for guys, the above applies..the part about hair not being in your face..but then most of you would be in army so shouldn't be a problem! ahaha

10. just be prepared for anything...haha..i had to do this impromtu presentation for about 3 mins on whatever theme i picky in a "lucky dip"..and i got salad -_-...i thought i screwed it up but i still got the schaolarship in the end...if you think you did badly in the first round, try to make up for it...

11. if the interview is in a group, you have to stand out...but remember to monitor the circumstances..if there are already a few aggressives ones, you being aggressive will not help at al..and if you do give suggestions, PLS THINK IT THROUGH. don't sound like a fool or just give suggestions for the sake of talking.

12. you might need to be a bit cunning..haha..WAIT! Not in a bad way..but you'll ahve to observe if the interviewers are taking to you or if they like what you are saying and go on with it, if not change topic.

i guess that's all for now..haha..good luck to those who are going for interviews!! =D
