SINGAPORE: It was a fiery ride for the passengers on an SBS bus early Saturday morning when service number 182 caught fire in Tuas.

Fortunately, the driver and its 14 passengers managed to escape unhurt.

It was supposed to be a routine journey to Boon Lay Bus Interchange around 7.30am, until the right rear tyre burst into flames along Tuas View Crescent.

The driver tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but he was unable to control the blaze which engulfed the bus shortly.

A fire engine rushed to the scene and put out the fire within 10 minutes. By then, the bus was already badly damaged.

The bus stop nearby was also not spared.

SBS Transit and the SCDF are investigating the cause of the fire.
