THE Unbeatable duo are together again.
Four years after Zoe Tay and Li Nanxing last co-starred - on The Unbeatables III - they're together again, this time playing a squabbling couple in the upcoming Channel 8 serial A Million Treasures.

This is the first time they're collaborating on a comedy.

In the show, Nanxing plays a conceited cook with delusions of grandeur, while Zoe is a successful businesswoman who ends up penniless.

The two become rivals, but are forced to work together when the winning lottery ticket they both chipped in to buy goes missing.

Perhaps with onscreen bickering still fresh on their minds at a MediaCorp press event last Wednesday, the pair known as the king and queen of Caldecott Hill were happy to fling dirt on each other - albeit good-naturedly.

When asked whether Zoe had changed now that she is a mother, an uncharacteristically jovial Nanxing said in Mandarin: 'She's more mature now. More wrinkles also!'

The usually quiet star, who had been loudly cracking jokes throughout the conference, provoked another round of laughter by adding: 'I'm very direct. I told her, I think you should go put some powder on. After I said this, she walked back three steps!'

When told what Nanxing said, Zoe glared in his direction.

'It's okay. He's got a lot of bad points too. I'll let other people say what they are,' said the 38-year-old actress.

When asked how Nanxing had changed in the last few years, Zoe gave him a backhanded compliment, saying that he tended to be in a good mood nowadays. In the past, he was 'hard to grasp' and often late for work. Now he's always on time, she said.

'At least he won't let me start work at 8.30am, wait until 11am and still not appear.'
Zoe, who sported a bob, could not really say what was the reason for the change.

'Maybe it's because he recently embraced God!' she said, to more laughter. Nanxing is a Roman Catholic.

Nanxing, 42, attributed his cheerfulness to the show itself.

'In this show, it's all hee-hee ha-ha, then one day (it) is over. Time passes very quickly,' he said.

Newcomer Kang Cheng Xi, 21, who plays Nanxing's brother in the show, also said that the veteran was in good spirits during filming.

'People say he is quiet and moody. But he was upbeat and funny during filming. He treated me like a little brother,' he said.


A Million Treasures will be telecast on Ch 8 at 9pm on weekdays, starting on 4 Dec.
