Default SATA Hdd to Ide bus wire??

Hi peeps,

Am having a problem hope i can find some answers here.

Recently have gotten an old PC which is a first batch P4, motherboard have got no Sata slot. I wanted to add another Sata Hdd to it from another PC that i realised that there's no sata slot.

I have got the wires for power for sata hdd. Are there or are there any converter wires on the market that convert sata to the normal Ide bus wire then to the motherboard?

Visited two PC shops, one told me to get a sata card, another told me there's no way to backward convert thus getting a external case will be better..

Any advise from anyone?? All advise are much appreciated..

I had a SATA 1 controller on my mobo. I needed SATA 2. So i bought a PCI SATA 2 controller and hooked up my HDDs to that.

That's what you can do as well. Get a PCI SATA 2 controller and hook up the devices to that instead.

Or you can buy an eSATA card and connect your HDDs to a storage box with eSATA output and connect via that.

Hi Vis-Leftfoot,

Yes, There is converter on market selling IDE - SATA.

* But it is not recommanded to use converter. The speed will be slow compare to the real SATA speed.

Sim Lim Square Shops Selling The Converter:

Skylet
ATF

Hi Vis-Leftfoot,

Yeah, It will work from the Sata to Ide.

* If you dont mind the speed then it will be the best way out to save money rather then changing the Motherboard.

If you're getting a card, why would you need the converter?

Hi Pple,

Am back, think i'm really flooded with work till i made such big mistakes..
Went to Sim Lim and got myself a converter till i got home to realise after i connect the sata cable to the hdd, power cable to the converter, then..

The connector of the converter is a female end meaning it will only connect to the motherboard where i actually wanted to connect it to the 2nd bus wire..

Is there anything that sits right in between two female connector to like them tgt?
