SGC$: 26.50 Bank: 51.97 Total SGC$: 78.47 | if u applying for ite using your o level, there a higher chance that u can apply for higher nitec.. for me, i left 1 month to finish my higher nitec n i from what i see, higher nitec is in demand rite nw.. same wif poly diploma.. starting pay for higher nitec should be ard $1500-$1600.. for engineering field.. i'm not sure abt other field.. after this i intend to go tp.. study IT.. i rather study in sp, np, tp, nyp than rp.. cause for me i would feel insecure if i were to have rp diploma.. at least i can get job easily with a higher nitec cert.. |

( dun conclude that ite is bad just because people smoke and gangsterism and shit pls ) if you do well in ur exams. graduate wif a gpa 3.5 - 4. you are able to skip poly year 1 and go into year 2. there are alot of facilities and courses coming up in ite as well. im a higher nitec student studying @ dover ite. im currently in Network Security Tech Course. ( a joint course project between ITE & CISCO which is a top cyber security company in the united states. ) im in the 1st batch for this course which means im a white mice. this course came out due to demand from network security industry ( as the course name has already stated ) this course is available in simei ite , dover ite and ngee ann poly only. i heard the cut-off point for this course in poly is between 10-15? ![]() To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. SGC$: 483.30 Bank: 0.00 Total SGC$: 483.30 | ITE isn't bad, but it prepares you for entry level jobs while a poly prepares you for a mid-level job. RP take things in a really different approach and some companies do value RP's dip as it's PBl, the skill is really useful, you don't just study and mug like crazy. If you are aiming for a degree RP is for you as it is a stepping stone to a University. Going to ITE, you would have to spend more years studying before you can get into a Uni. Courses in RP may not have direct entry or module exemption in the Uni you want to go to, but what is a year compared to 3 years in poly after ITE to qualify for a Uni? If time is not a problem, then going to ITE->poly->Uni. However, the time spent in ITE can be better used in getting your Masters and PhD in my opinion. ![]() To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. SGC$: 45.00 Bank: 168.20 Total SGC$: 213.20 | I was just about to post a new thread about RP when I saw this. Just got a few questions I wanted to ask about RP. I have a friend who is in RP, but she wants to go out and go somewhere else. Apparently, it is said that the RP diploma ranks lowest among all the other polys and that she'd want to go to another poly. I didn't understand it when she told me, but then I tried to find out more. For some reason, the COP for RP courses are among the highest among all the poly courses. I can't help but notice that the COP for 23 out of the 29 courses offered is 26. The lowest is 18, and the other 5 are either 20, 22 or 23. In comparison, TP offers 42 courses, and the highest COP is 23. SP offers 43 courses, and COP is 23 also. One stark comparison I would like to point out is the entry for Biomedical Sciences. Cut-off for SP is 9, for TP is 13 but it's 23 for RP. I would think that it's a huge difference for the same course. The same huge point gap can also be seen in other courses like Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Science, Aerospace, Information Technology and possible some other courses. For the examples that I have mentioned, the COP for other polys are ard mid-teens while it's 26 for RP (all 4 courses). Surely there must be a reason for this? I am not trying to argue that RP is a bad poly. I would just like to know how come there is such a big difference between the polys. I think that it won't be fair if a student spends 3 yrs getting a diploma in RP, but when they try to apply for jobs, they are placed at the bottom of the list just because they hold an RP diploma instead of say, an SP or TP diploma. If there're any RP graduates here, it would be great to get some opinion, and maybe shed some truth on this. |

SGC$: 642.78 Bank: 239.27 Total SGC$: 882.05 | Listen to your friend not to go RP if you want to go better know what you are doing there if not go there play LAN gaming whole day is a waste of time and also alot of presentation, and RP got pawned out by industry people that their student don't know anything after they graduate I not surprise at all I have been to RP I see how the student in the school behave and in lesson quite disappointed but can't blame the school system cause too new, I suggest you go ITE and after that go poly is much more experience than those fresh O level graduates who join poly and you won't feel lose out to them, lastly choice is up to you to decide |

SGC$: 45.00 Bank: 168.20 Total SGC$: 213.20 | I agree. It's bad enough that common people say that, but as a principal, I think that he or she should know better to comment like that. There's nothing wrong with ITE now. In fact, I would say that the standard of ITE has been increasing over the past few years. And I was reading in the newspaper the other day abt a few students who chose to go to ITE after their N levels instead of taking their Os when their results are more than enough to allow them to continue to Sec 5. Besides, even MM Lee said that ITE is one of Singapore's success stories. So, seriously, please tell your principal to grow up, and have an open mind. The government's not paying them a 5-digit salary to say these kind of things. |

SGC$: 45.00 Bank: 168.20 Total SGC$: 213.20 | Actually, I think it might actually be better to go to ITE, get a NITEC and Higher NITEC, then go to a poly that's better than RP. It definitely takes longer, but I honestly think that the extra time spent will be well worth it when you have an SP or a TP diploma to show to your future employers instead of an RP diploma. It may not matter much if you're going to the government sector, but if you're planning to work in the private sector, as mentioned in my previous post, I think that a lot of companies play down the worth of an RP diploma when compared to the others. |
