Cup To resign or to stay? : Is It Time To Go?

To resign or to stay? : Is It Time To Go?

Have you been plagued by the question, "Is it time to look for a new job?" One half of you says "Yes, I want to move". Almost immediately the other half rationalizes "Better the boss/colleagues you know then the ones you've yet to meet!" While staying means you've got to live with your current problems, leaving means having to fit into a new environment that could mean more stress. What to do? Flipping a coin is one way to decide. A better gauge as to when to say Sayonara is if you've experienced or noted any of the tell tale signs below. If you have, you may want to seriously consider heading for the door.

Battle with boss
You just had a major blowup with your boss. If it was about work related issues, calm down, it'll probably blow over. If it was about management style and personal differences, with you calling your boss names (and banged the table to boot) then you are probably in his bad books. At best this could affect your future promotion or worse have him looking for your replacement!

Are you hatching eggs?
You've hit the ceiling in your career and you are one of the most senior staff around. Everyone is tapping on your knowledge and experience. You're a mentor to all but you're not on the receiving end. Work has become monotonous and nothing new is coming your way. You feel it is time to move on to the next level but there is no next level in the company. This might be your ultimate push factor.

Face it girl! Nobody wants you around
This is a sure sign to move on, girl! You're the most unpopular one in the office and it may not even be that you have negative traits or bad attitude. It could be because you are the boss's favorite, the most diligent staff and your colleagues hate you for being so or you're simply the political bitch that no one likes. Let's face it! Nobody wants you around so it's time to go!

You've missed the bus
You've waited ages for that promotion. You worked hard for it but your colleague got promoted instead because she's the boss's favorite. The next promotion could be the next century. Your chances of going anywhere in the company in the foreseeable future is zilch. It's time to start job hunting.

You simply hate your job
Yes, 'hate' is the word. You have reached that point in your career where you hate everything about it? your boss, your colleagues, your work and even your desk and computer! You have to drag yourself to work every single day, counting the minutes, even seconds, to knock off time. If ever there's a sign that you should, nay must, move on, this is it. It's time for a change, so start packing. You've experienced one or more of the above. The writing is on the wall. You have to leave. But before you throw that resignation letter in, click here to read how to quit with grace.

It's a tough decision to stay or go. But sometimes, to go is the best.

It really depends on whether the current job scope still attracts you or you want a challenging career.

I have already hit the ceiling and the next level is not practical at all, basically research and development became rubbish and dustbin, time to move on.

Well, there's this thing about "push and pull factors". If you're leaving a job, in this current time, it's highly recommended that you only do so when u have found another job. If not, you may (or may not) find yourself jobless for some time. Sometimes, it's not just about looking for a job, but finding a job that is at least equal, or better than your previous job that makes it hard. So, if there's something pushing you from your current job, I think it would be safest to ensure that there's a pull factor somewhere before you quit your job. If not, I think it'll just be the same..

Hope your head don't get head damage by hitting the ceiling.

I would say it's time to move on, if the company is not planning for any upward opportunity.

This is exactly what I mean by having a pull factor to get you out of your current job. You have to already have another job offer somewhere else that's more attractive than your current job before you leave.

For me, if I want to go, I just go.

Don't crack your brain to think to go or not. Waste time.

Especially if that person was paid highly, and no contribution to the company.
