SINGAPORE : Singapore can look forward to clearer skies by the end of this week.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) says more rain expected over this region will help douse the burning in Sumatra and Kalimantan, and stop the fires from spreading.

The 3-hour PSI in Singapore on Monday has been in the moderate range.

Latest satellite images also showed only 3 hotspots in Kalimantan and 35 in Sumatra.

But NEA says the low count is due to cloudy conditions.

The haze over Singapore has however been watered down with increasing rain over the burning fires in Indonesia.

Irregular winds blowing from the east or north-east has also helped keep the thick smoke away from Singapore.

The weather on Tuesday tomorrow will however remain generally hazy with winds expected to shift in varying directions. - CNA /ls
