Wide Grin R4 or DSTT?

Sorry people, you must have seen this thread tons of times, but I don't get something.

1. DSTT is selling cheaper than R4 even though you guys say it's better
2. Does DSTT support monthly change of themes like R4 i.e. you can put in 12 themes and they will automatically change for you on a monthly basis.

There's a shop whereby the R4 is being sold to me at $68/-. I asked my cousin and she said that it was worth it as she believes that the R4 is better than DSTT. Somewhere else, Acekard 2 (w/o anything) is being sold for $120 (!!!!!). DSTT after browsing through the marketplace the price seems to be at least $20 lower than the R4.

Oh, and what's SDHC?

Thanks alot.

It's easy to say "what if" and paint a picture of a perfect world.

SDHC means SD High Capacity. It refers to SD and microSD cards with capacity greater than 2GB.

R4 vs DSTT summary:

Capacity
DSTT support SDHC meaning can use microSD up to 32GB in size (i haven't seen any bigger than 32 on the market, hence only say 32. but in theory with SDHC support, DSTT can use unlimited size microSD card)
R4 can only use up to 2GB max.

Capacity = DSTT win.

Stability
Both R4 and DSTT perform roughly equivalently in this area. Both have the same low propensity for hanging/crashing.

Stability = Draw

Speed
Both carts have roughly the same loading times. however, R4 game list scrolling speed is much faster than DSTT's laggy scrolling speed.

Speed = R4 win

Skinning
DSTT can only have 1 skin on the card at a time. Skin changing cannot be done in-console but only after connecting to PC.

Skinning = R4 win

Price
Price for R4 is over-inflated because of it's past reputation as the best cart. but nowadays that's no longer true. But because, NDSL primarily appeals to casual gamers who don't know nuts abt the technical side to gaming, the R4 is still blindly considered by this segment to be the best cart and hence sticky prices whereby the price stays at unreasonable levels not reflective of the cart's true abilities.

Price = DSTT

Conclusion: I don't say which cart is better. In fact, i have always advocated that there is NO best cart but rather carts which fit the individual's need. Each cart has strengths and weaknesses and people should be critical and discerning to find things out for themselves rather than behaving like sheep who just follow the crowd. These people deserve it when they get a negative experience with their uninformed choices.

Btw, where did you see the $120 AceKard 2? That's totally a rip-off. With that type of money i'd rather go buy a CycloDS and still have some money remaining!

Forgot 1 last important comparison.

Support
The R4 Team has stopped worked on the R4. There will be no new functionality or functionality updates in the future. Expect only game patches and even then, game patches for the R4 will come out the slowest amongst all current flash carts. Furthermore, R4 is no longer being manufactured by the original guys but by other groups cashing in on the R4's popularity. Therefore,

Support = DSTT win.

Good idea! If can put a thread on all what is required to know when buying a ds lite and all things related to ds lite. Example like checking for fake sets, comparsion of all flash cart, etc. A short summary. Edited if there is a new question.
Then no need every time when a newbie (like me) want to buy a ds lite then ask the same questions over and over again.
