First, time to say this is my first post in SGClub forums, so hi all.

Ok on to the topic. I've just handled my first cheque (my parents handled all previous ones), and i've got a question thats been burning ever since i put it in the quick cheque deposit.

1: how long does a cheque take to get processed? its over 4 days liao in my case
2: what does a bank mean when it says "Hold Balance for : X Days - $###". If it means it holds the money for the X days it states on the ATM, its been over 48 hours since it said "1 day - $###" and i havent got the money available. Right now its the 4th day (put it in on thurs, its monday now) and it tells me its still being held of 1/2 a day.

thats it i guess? the bank in question is POSB/DBS. If i seem impatient its cuz i need the money urgently for everyday meals and stuff.

well in fact when u drop on thursday timing?

aft collection it will be a friday clearing

friday clearing = 2 days to clear (working days)

thus i believe u will receive the money todya aft 3pm.

if nt will be tmr morning.

oh i put it in the evening around 7pm, so i guess its cleared the next day.

why 3pm? is there some significance to that time?

If u drop on thrusday night, it will clear on monday 3pm. The banking system la, If you drop before 3pm on thursday ,it will clear on friday 3pm. Now they implement 5 days clearing.

5 days?? really?? i thought is jus 2 working days since it was a friday.. so if say 2 days it will count out... guess i am wrong =( thanks LTZ for ur correctiopn

where do you get all this info ah? i've been cruising the dbs webbie to find out how the handle cheques but for some reason cannot find any. or maybe i just c***-eye =/
