Pulau Ubin Trip ~ Great Success!!

Its a great exp in this trip. Just like those Kampong days. I was facinated by all the trees, sun and the small huts they have. Great weather too for exercising...

ya.. we had a very great time at there .... very fun.. bt i slided off frm my bike... :disgust2:

anyway.. weather gd.. starting drizzing abit.. bt after that is a sunny day.. so its a gd day...

after that we went to the nearby hawker for lunch...we had lasi lemak. hahaha nice nice.. MamaRos help us buy de..

It is always interesting to meet new people and I got to meet SGC members whom I have not seen before.

I was shocked (although I didn't show it) to see ican. He is one cool guy! Hear, hear girls..... From his intellectual postings in this forum I was expecting someone 'nerdy' de...but hor, he looks far from nerdy ah! We were kinda appraising his appearance while waiting for latecomers and I said he had the look of someone in the graphic/multi media line. Someone said he looked like a hairstylist. :surprised: Well, first impressions are definitely not true impressions lah. Ican is a Trainer in Entrepreneurship wor.... Young, debonair and smart too! Oh, he is a nice guy, no pretentions at all.

Firethorn is a new SGC member and I didn't really get to chat with him. I think he syum violette and me becos we were both alarming him with our 'old bird' status in SGClub? mwahahaha.........

The other new member is silverxii. The others I have met before in previous SGC outings and they were more relaxed and open.

We took a bumboat from Changi Ferry to Pulau Ubin. Yeah, the quaintness of the island never failed to charm me as it reminded me of a time long long ago when life was more laid back and relaxed. There were more bicycle rental shops than before and what all of us did, was to rent a bike of our choice. I rented an auntie bicycle, the one with a basket in front so that I could put some of my stuff in it.

We cycled for more than 2 hrs I think....through foliage and trees, on paved roads to gravelled paths, uphill and downhill, passing kampong houses, quarries, wooden bridges, the Marina resort, a temple and a vacant fish-rearing farm. Fortunately we had a map or else we'll sure to get lost! :biggrin4:

The granite quarries are a sight to behold! They looked like lakes with clear blue waters and surrounded by trees and granite structures. All natural ah!

The majority of us decided we had enough exercise and we then cycled our way back to the ferry terminal, returned our bicycles and took a bumboat back to Singapore.

We had yummy nasi lemak at the Changi Village food centre and then dispersed to take our respective transport home.

Overall, this trip is not only educational for us, it also enabled us to 'spread our wings' in trying something different from the normal activities we usually do in mainland Singapore.

Ican is a good leader, stopping every now and then to check none of us are left too far behind. He's accomodating in that even though he wanted to reccee the island more, he acquienced when we said we had enough. I think he was a bit dissappointed but he didn't push or showed displeasure at having his outing cut short. Good leader + good teamplayer.

Well done, ican! Hi5 to those who made the time and effort to join the outing!
