Default PSP: Buying Guide

What to buy?

If you are new and do not know what to buy, just take this bundle.
Bundle explained:
PSP Version 1.50: Version 1.50 is your first step to homebrew. A homebrew enabled PSP can do more than just playing games. Just take a look here to see what your PSP can do =]

Screen Protector: A must. The screen is big and scratches easily.

Memory Stick Pro duo: We highly recommend 4gb as 2gb is really too small for everything. For now we offer original Sandisk only. Original Sony memory stick prices are a little steep and rumors has it hey are slower. We have yet to verify this, but we are happy with Sandisk. Transferring 4gb takes only 16 minutes.
If you find Sony memory sticks outside selling at prices lower than Sandisk, please be aware that those are fakes. They are definitely not original and not OEM. OEM is short for original equipment manufacturer. Usually OEM cards are found bundled with cameras or phones. Therefore, OEM cards are cheaper than the retail version even though they are essentially the same thing. From our knowledge, in the market, no cameras / phones come bundled with 4gb. There is definitely no OEM 4gb cards. There is only Original or Fake.

Game UMD: PSP plays UMD games. If you don't have a UMD, what would you be playing? Anyway, some homebrew might require a UMD to load. It is best to have at least 1 UMD.

Data Cable:
If you don't already have one and your card reader cannot read memory stick pro duo, you need 1. Do check this link to check if you already have one at home.

Casing or Pouch:
Generally, users like to keep their new PSP as new as possible... Do you really need more explanation for this?

During the meet up...

It is good practice to print/write a copy of your order. Bring it along during the collection.
There will be no receipt during collection. Receipts can be printed online by logging into your account.
1. Check all ordered items are present
2. Your PSP LCD screen is not covered by any form of warranty. Sony themselves also do not give warranty for the LCD screen. Please check on the spot.
For LCD, the most common defect is dead pixels (hmm.. actually, there isn't any other type of LCD defects for new sets). To check..
Go settings. Select themes and enter themes menu. Change the background colour of your PSP and watch out for stuck pixels. Pixels that are of different colour from the background. For this check, take note of red, blue and green background. The other 9 colours are not necessary.

Go settings. Select system settings. Scroll all the way down and start "about PSP" to check for dead pixels in a black screen.

If you can't remember all these, ask the staff passing you the PSP to show the checks to you =] We are more than happy to help.
3. For the PSP, that is the end of the checks. Feel free to run checks on the other accessories.
For those who opt for delivery or post, we will run through these checks for you before posting them out. We will do our best to give you a dead-pixel free LCD, but should you spot any after the set is delivered to you, there will not be any exchanges. If you are very concerned about dead pixels, please opt for self collect only.

After the meet up...

1. Format Memory Stick.
Go Settings > System Settings > Format Memory Stick

2. Except for the wifi, everything else has been checked before the PSP is sold to you. Please check your wifi within the 1st week warranty! This is also a chance to set up your internet connection.
Access internet explorer. (Under network)

Once you are in, type in a URL (ie www.qisahn.com =]) and hit enter. As your set is virgin, there will be a prompt asking you to set up a new wireless network connection. Just follow through.
Once the page loads, you know your wifi card is working.

3. Enable WMA and Flash on your PSP
a) Enter Recovery Mode
b) Go registry hacks and enable both options.

format memory stick is to delete anything inside the card and also it helps you to create the compulsory folder for ur psp. example: ISO , PSP, Picture, Music, MP_Root, System etc..so that you will not need to create anything. just drag your games, photo and songs to specific folders then it will be done.

you mean SD card or Sandisk card?

if you are refering to SD card , then you are not allow to.. it cannot fit into the card slot in psp/psp slim.

if you are refering the brand Sandisk Memory stick,Yesh. you can use that 8gb to play your games in psp/psp slim.

go to theme setting in ur psp, go to color and press select button. you will see alot of different color for you to choose. scroll to all colors and look closely to the screen. if u see a dot on the screen, it will be either a dead pixel or bright pixel or stuck pixel.
