There will be PS4 launched by Sony according to Sony's vp of technology, Paul Holman.

PlayStation 4? It's not as crazy as it sounds. But consumers shouldn't expect the console until 2010 at the soonest, said vice president of technology for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Paul Holman.

Despite recent rumors that Sony may be preparing to exit the console hardware business given its management shift among top SCEI executives, Holman clarifies with SmartHouse that Sony is indeed planning to launch a PlayStation 4, but no sooner than 2010. "To say that there will be no PS4 because of a management change is a bit far fetched," Holman says.

According to Holman, it's too soon to be speaking of the PS4, since game developers are just discovering that the PS3 has "more processing headroom than they initially anticipated and that this was resulting in the development of new gaming capabilities."

What about these "new gaming capabilities?"

Holman said that Sony plans to release a series of firmware upgrades, as the company has done with its PSP, to enable the PS3 to become more media center oriented and allow for third-party applications and hardware "such as interactive controllers" like the Nintendo Wii remote.

i dont even think it will be lauched in 2010, i mean the time frame from ps2 to ps3 was like 7 years, plus the ps3 has already have a blu ray component, which will most likely last another 10 or so years, as we've seen with the Dvd. soo unless there is some kind of new disc or new format on how to play games e.g Virtual Reality. We Wont See the PS4 coming into the picture till about 2013 - 2014 at the least, thats my prediction

Well Actually the sales report just came out, and every since the launched of MGS4, PS3 sales have gone up 300%. its the best period of PS3 Since it was launched in 2007. sooo right now we know. PS3 will start to go up when those ps3 exclusive games come out...it started with MGS4 and it will keep on going with the coming release of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts Etc..

actually, it hasnt dropped yet...its still way better then its current competitor XBox, I dont really think of Wii being a big deal cos, Wii isnt a next gen console, its more of a family console...

soo ya, the sales of ps3 is still either the same or raising but its not dropping, it seems when MGS4 came out, everyone started to see the capabilities of ps3.

and yep confirm will have ps3 silm lol, but not anytime soon, sony only release the slim series when the product is dying off. just like ps1, ps2 and psp

the failure to capture the special deal for GTAIV led to another defeat by PS3.
PS2 used to dominate GTA, having all releases on it.

Well Honestly I Never liked GTA Series, To Me The GTA Series is more for people that really wanna kill ppl but cant do it in real life so they do it on the game X_X, BUT to me what really brings the PS System so high on the console map is The RPG Series, like Suikoden, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts...

And As You Know This Games Will Definetly Be A PS3 Exclusive Game. And Of cos the sales right now are stupid, but u have to remember, before the release of MGS4 And Gta4, the other games that were release for ps3 werent designed for the PS3, it was actually made for the PS2, but the designers wanted to release it on ps3 so they changed a lil things from the game and put it on the ps3 instead of ps2....

PS3 is good in graphics and Hi-Def....but...so what? <---- from you saying that i can tell ur not really an avid gamer, To all gamers Graphics/ Hi Def (Same Category) + Audio is the Most Important thing for a game, and after graphics and audio, it comes to story line, then gameplay then so on and so forth.

What Wii Doesnt Really have Is The Graphics And Audio Side, Wii Is More Towards The Ps2 Era Of Gaming, except for the fun controllers (Yes i admit that the controller is fun) and as for the Xbox...well honestly...i give it another 1 more year before it dies... Even the people in mircosoft do not even care about the xbox360 anymore, in the recent Game Developers convention in the United States, Mircosoft acutally displayed one of their xbox console and it turns out when they turned it on infront of the game developers, it had the ring of death (which is the red ring around the Power Button) And it was faulty, many developers was very dissappointed after seeing it.

But as i said, What the ps3 needs right now is time.....give it till the release of Biohazard 5, Playstation Home And Final fantasy (Which are all games being released by this year) then we can really see how far can the mighty ps jump to overtake both wii and xbox

Gamecube graphics are more superior to PS2.
Wii is twice the gamecube.
There is already improvement.

Ps3 will only overtake the 360 not the wii.

like what this dude says, its true, becos of the current price drop on alot of HDTV brands, Wii will start to look really pathetic from comparision to the PS3, and you can say "No no it wont happen" but i gurantee you that sooner or later the sales of ps3 will take over wii, it might not be end of this year (My predictions is by end of this year PS3 will overtake Xbox360) Maybe in 2 - 3 years time, when the developers have finally found out how far the ps3 can go in terms of graphics and start to give us world class games, then ps3 will take over wii, by then i dont think many people will be talking about wii anymor
