Prosecution may drop two criminal charges against Richard Yong SINGAPORE: Two charges may be dropped against former National Kidney Foundation (NKF) chairman Richard Yong.
The offer to drop the two charges was made by the prosecution lawyers on Friday.
One of them told reporters that if Yong agrees, the case will now proceed with only three charges - one under the Penal Code and two for bankruptcy.
Yong was extradited to Singapore in early August.
He had allegedly fled to Hong Kong after selling off properties and transferring the money to his wife three months ago.
Yong was declared a bankrupt after he failed to pay legal costs and damages to the NKF arising from an earlier civil suit.
He was initially slapped with 10 criminal charges.
His defence lawyers said the former banker was keeping well and was looking forward to resolving the case soon.
They have until September 5 to decide whether they will accept the prosecution's offer. - CNA/ir |
