Total SGC$: 101.04 | Problems With Singnet I'm not sure if it's just me, or is Singnet playing around again
For the past 3 days, I haven't been able to connect to the internet. I left my Netgear D834G on through the night, but still nothing... Though it's not on the supported modems list, I've been using it for close to 2 years without problems.
After changing the location of the modem (from my study room to my living room) while calling the broadband technical line (their staff are always engaged for some reason), I was miraculously online. Only to find myself disconnected the moment I dropped the call to Singtel.
I stayed dc for about 15 mins, then I decided to call Singtel again, and there I was, online!
Ok, so now I'm online.
A check at the modem console shows me this:
DownStream Connection Speed 1384 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 202 kbps
when I'm supposed to be running on a 3mbps plan...
Frankly speaking, I am running out of patience for Singtel, Singnet, and their standards of service.
ADDED: I can't even complete Speedtest.net now...

They told me that they were sorry they couldn't do much since the modem wasn't supported (They actually wrote that in the script?!) but these are the settings you should check with your network administrator, blah blah blah.
Apparently, they had the idea that someone who hasn't already triple-checked the settings would waste time calling them.
Switched back to the Prolink Hurricane that they issued, not having problems. Yet.
Just that now, I have to pull a ugly Ethernet cable to my laptop. Suspect its the recent mio connection that causing all this trouble.
Anyway, I'll get them to check when they come down on Monday. Perhaps something can be done about it. Not paying bills isn't my way of getting back at Singnet, it's just not enough impact. Bad press and a ruined reputation sound better to me.
While I still have my connection, I'll be reading up to see what I can do to make their stock prices drop 50% in a day. |

Wireless connections varies because the wavelength can be disrupted...
I've experience of sitting under a router in my school but still being unable to connect to the network...
Using a cable will guarantee greater chances of having network access because you're connected directly to the router itself... To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

It's not the issue of not being able to connect wirelessly. In fact, I'm able to connect to my modem/router. However, I can't go online because my LCP (I haven't really figured it out yet) is always down. I suppose it just meant that I'm unable to establish connection with Singnet using the Netgear.
I'm still on the Prolink now. Will ask the techie if he can make it work when he comes down to install the system for mio tomorrow. I really have a suspicion that all this trouble is caused by mio. |
