Prawn Fishing?

Anyone here tried prawn fishing before?

The last time I tried it was at Nature Park Beer Garden next to Asian Golf Academy located at Sing Ming. My ex colleagues invited me there.

It's rather fast paced compared to normal fishing. the fishing rod gets hook within minutes. But must react fast before the prawn get away with the bait. Chicken liver is used as bait. Provided by vendors. The most challenging part is to get the hook off the prawn. The prawn can attack you with it's pincers like lobsters.

Me no technique.:cry3: 1 hour catch 3 prawns only. My ex colleagues can catch at least 6 to 8 in an hour.

Rental of fishing rod costs $15 an hour. I'm not sure abt other places like farm mart at Chua Chu Kang & bottle tree park at Yishun.

hmmz...i went to checked out bottle tree park...its about $14.50 per hr...

there's one place at Taman Jurong where u can fish for prawns 2. An hour cost u 13 bucks. But if u fish for 2 hrs, u will get the 3rd hour FOC.

Haha.. I've been to Prawn Fishing. Somewhere around Lakeside but can't remember the name of the place.

And know what? I've caught NONE.

I guess the ppl there don't really replenish the prawns as scheduled. Quite disappointed.

Bottle tree park.
prawns are quite big.

i still remember last time i use to go fishing for prawn with my dad when i was young, so happy. but now i old liao, and prawn fishing also become very exp .... :cry3: time dont wait for people ....

Haha, me and my bf go prawn fish before. I think its next to crocodile farm ar. Then we catch around 5-6 prawns. Then 1 prawn jump back into the pond "-.- So left 4-5 lo.

Actually behind us got bbq pit can eat on e spot bt I bu ren xing. Then we go nearby reservoir and "fang sheng"....So I guess the prawn dat jump back into the pond sway...wan to save it dun wan....hai. :speechless:

my cc is organising it on 15 july .
$25 for non-PA members for 3 hours .
$20 for PA members for 3 hours .

the fee includes door gifts .
and there will be competition goin on .
(e.g who will get prawn with longest claws etc...)

it will be at jurong reptile park .
u can register on that day itself too .

anyone interested ?

haha. heyhey, this is definitely my sport, though i am 16 only, i had starting prawning when i was 10.

there is a few things you have to consider when you are catching prawns,
1) is your leader line long enough to reach the bottom?
2) is your hook the right size
3)is your bait too big
4)do you know when to jerk at the right time?
and lastly are you lucky enough?

haha just joking about the last part. anyway.

i usually goes to tmj pond, and usually i can catch about 10 to 20+ prawns in 3 hhours, record was held at about 49 prawns. lol.

dont mind going together next time.
