Mourinho to quit Chelsea?

Jose Mourinho has quit as Chelsea manager after his latest bust up with owner Roman Abramovich, according to reports.

Following Tuesday night's disappointing 1-1 draw with Norweigan minnows Rosenborg in the Champions League the duo had a falling out and Mourinho is rumoured to have informed two players of his decision to leave following training on Wednesday.

The information was subsequently leaked to the press and a Soccernet source insists the press pack are ready to run with story, despite apparent phone calls to Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon and director of sport Avram Grant, who both deny having any information on the report.

Mourinho's rocky relationship with Abramovich is public knowledge and despite an apparent thaw in relations last season the duo were again at odds over the role of £30million striker Andrei Shevchenko and the Blues' dour style of football before Tuesday's result brought events to a head.

The Portuguse manager, who has won the Champions League with Porto and two Premier League titles as Chelsea manager, hinted at an exit last summer when he admitted he 'was a bit fed up with certain things' at the club.

Manager Mourinho leaves Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has sensationally left Stamford Bridge, according to BBC Radio 5live football correspondent Jonathan Legard.

The news comes just 24 hours after the disappointing Champions League draw against Rosenborg.

Legard understands that Mourinho has texted senior players, including skipper John Terry, with the news of his departure from Stamford Bridge.

There has been no official word so far from the Premiership club.

Mourinho joined Chelsea in the summer of 2004 and led them to the Premiership title in his first two seasons in charge.

Dont fight everyone Derby is the best and it is going to get the league title. They get thrashed at Liverpool 6-0 is a cover up. Mourinho may be going over to lead them with John Terry and Lampard...

End of story :p

Jose Mourinho is a good coach no matter what's being said about his style. Roman got his wish and avram grant will be the next Chelsea manager for sure. I am also pretty sure some of his players would follow him wherever he will be coaching next. Speculations of likely destinations? Barcelona, Tottenham, Portugal National Coach?

Chelsea will regret this decision, wrong timing and where do they go from here? The special one leaves with his head held high and chin pointing to the sky.

He will probably head to Barcelona if the team continued their lustre start to the Prima Liga.

yea thats what i had in mind. NO WAY! ask him to support any other club but not ours. it will be a huge disgrace to have such a fan.

Man Utd played like champions, and chelsea played like a relegated team. I agree that their 1 man down but ive never seen a club played that horribly before just because they have ten instead of eleven.

Tevez played really well and all thanks to giggs swerving ball with his outside foot. Awesome play too. Cristiano seemed to be having fun as well as evra and the others. good job lads!
