hmm although it seems that more ppl preferred poly to JC because of the heavy and fast-paced academic workload in JC and the 'safety' of being assured a diploma can get u a proper job and stable source of income, JC actually does has its own advantages though i'm not sure if this is what many ppl agree to too. here are some of the positive things in jc:
1. the stress and heavy workload tend to push many jc students in their
cohort to work extremely hard which results in stiff competition in that
particular JC. this, in turn, motivated jc students to consistently study for
fear that they may lose out to their schoolmates or classmates in being
able to secure a place in uni. thus, it is said that if u can be one of those
jc students in ur school to be able to get into uni, u will definitely feel a greater
sense of achievement too.
2. while education is very important to a student in a campus, friends are
also very important too, as they help spice up your bland, studious life in
school. i've heard of many many cases whereby many people in poly, in
general, are 'bootlickers' , 'backstabbers or just make use of u esp when it
comes to homework. thus it seems very common and widespread that to
many poly students, they can only be 'hi-bye frens' with their schoolmates
or coursemates. but, on the other hand, it seems that such 'hibye frens'
'hypocrites' situation as described by many in their poly life, seldom or nv
happen in jc life. thus, experiences from frens tell me that it's sorta easier to get
good, close friends in jc rather than in poly.
3. even though the number of poly grads admitted into local uni has
increased steadily over the yrs, jc grads, no doubt, are still at the top
priority of admission into uni. furthermore, jc grads have a wider range of
uni courses to choose from, rather than poly grads.
4. jc students use the student ezlink card which we used in sec school
times, hence their transportation fees are cheaper than that of poly grads
who have to use the adult fares.
5. jc grads, i heard, can use their cca points as bonus for their uni
admission whereas from 2007 onwards, poly grads can no longer use their
cca bonus grades for uni admission.
